​My names Max and I’m currently 18 years old, my first day at camp is my 19th birthday…What a way to spend your birthday!!

I’m currently finishing my A Levels and have always wanted to do Camp America, so I thought this would be the best time to do it. For years I was a Young Leader at a Scout group and always looked up to the older ones who went off to be counsellor at Camp, and now that’s me! I am really excited for this new adventure, not only to be in the US but to meet lots of new people and experience living in a different culture for a few months.

Being a lifeguard will be very interesting - our camp has its own private lake with so many watersports, so this role will be very responsible. I did my Lifeguard Training on one of the Camp America courses, so I have already met some amazing people who are also off to camps, though different to mine, still very exciting. I am equally excited to meet all the kids at camp, who I’m sure will probably be more knowledgeable than me!! I am sure along the way there will be challenges that we’ll overcome, another thing I am looking forward too is gaining so many new life skills. Camp life from what I’ve seen looks incredible, and I can’t wait to be a part of this myself. Once I return from camp, I am starting as Cabin Crew for British Airways, so you never know, you may see me on one of your flights in the near future!
