"I grew up fantasising about traveling America and it was the best thing I ever did!"
Camp Name: Green Chimneys Summer Camp
“The American Dream” – I grew up fantasising about traveling America and I heard about Camp America whilst in my first year of University. I was also very good at working with kids so I thought this was the best thing to do for my summer break. The rest is history.
Wake Up. Breakfast. Morning Songs. Then Take Part In Exciting Camp Activities All Day. You basically just have fun and entertain hyper America kids for the day.
The fact that they have so many National Parks! (And the Food, Everything is Supersized)
My Camp was a Day Camp (Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm) which meant the campers left to go home each day and we had evenings and weekends off. I think this gave me a good balance of camp life and gave me some free time to relax and travel. I was a little anxious about this camp type at first because it wasn’t the traditional type of camp I heard about before applying but I was pleasantly surprised at how amazing it was. I would recommend a Day Camp!
How literally everyday is different. The campers and activities all make each day very spontaneous. The best part is you get to be a role model to the campers (even if you don’t try to be) and help create lasting memories with them.
At the end of the day when you see that all the campers have had the best day having fun! Priceless moments. (Colour War was my favourite event/activity)
To Enjoy Every Moment of Life. And all the new Life Long Friends (now family) I made in the 3 camp summers I had!
