From teamwork and communication to independence and problem-solving, your summer gave you real experience. Here’s how to put it to work on your CV, LinkedIn and in your next interview.

Put Camp America on your CV

“I worked at a summer camp in America” doesn’t really cover it.

You adapted to a completely new environment, worked with people from around the world, took on responsibility and dealt with challenges you couldn't exactly prepare for.

That’s real work experience. Don't undersell it.

Use these examples as a starting point and make them relevant to what you actually did at camp.

Planned and delivered activities for children of different ages and abilities.
Developed coaching, communication and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.
Took responsibility for creating safe, engaging and inclusive activity sessions.
Worked collaboratively with an international team and adapted quickly to new situations.

Support Staff - USA

[Camp Name] | Summer 2026

Helped support the day-to-day running of a busy residential summer camp.
Worked as part of an international team in a fast-paced environment.
Developed strong teamwork, time management and communication skills.
Demonstrated reliability, adaptability and the ability to work under pressure while living and working abroad.

What skills did you actually gain?

Probably more than you think.

Teamwork • Communication • Leadership • Independence • Adaptability • Problem-solving • Responsibility • Cultural awareness • Organisation • Resilience

Don't just list them. When you're applying for a job or sitting in an interview, think of actual moments from camp that prove them.

“Tell us about a time you solved a problem.”

You've probably got a few stories for that one now.

Add your summer to LinkedIn

Camp America belongs in your Experience section - because that's exactly what it is: international work experience.

Add:

Job title: Your role at camp
Camp Counsellor, Lifeguard, Sports Instructor, Kitchen Staff etc.

Company: Your summer camp

Employment type: Seasonal

Dates: Your summer dates

Location: USA

Then use some of the CV examples above to describe what you did and what you were responsible for.

Your LinkedIn doesn't have to be all job announcements and corporate updates. Sharing what you did this summer is a great way to show future employers a bit more about you - and the experience you've gained.
