Camp Overview
Quest's Camp Thunderbird provides a real summer camp experience for people with developmental disabilities, serving roughly 300 campers ages 7 to 70+ each summer. The six and 12-day sessions offer campers the opportunity to participate in recreational activities such as swimming, archery, sports and games, arts and crafts, music and drama, while also giving parents and guardians a break from 24-hour care.
STAFF TIME OFF
Most staff are off during session breaks. These happen every 1-2 weeks and are about 36 hours long. Staff who work session break have additional mid-session time off and also are paid a bonus amount for working that break. Staff have daily breaks during either rest period (1-3pm) or during shower/cabin time (8-10pm). Staff also rotate nights in the camper cabins and do not typically work in the cabin two nights in a row.
STAFF QUALITIES
We are looking for staff members who love to work with our population (special needs) and are caring and patient. The work is hard, but so rewarding. We also look for staff members who are creative and fun, and can think outside of the box, when planning activities for our guests.
