Camp Overview
Holiday House offers a wonderful and unique experience for our campers and counselors. Located on the beautiful north shore of Long Island, we are just a sixty minute train ride from New York City. We offer four, twelve day sessions for girls between the ages of 7 and 11 who take part in a variety of engaging activities designed to boost their self esteem, encourage their growth and of course, ensure they have fun! Our camp programs, which are led by both counselors and volunteers, range from swimming and sports to mindfulness, money management lessons and our self-esteem building Girl Power program. Camp evenings are a special time where we get together for campfires, magic shows, cabin nights, camp games and more. Our themed days, such as Carnival Day, Backwards Day and Halloween Day will be just a few highlights of your camp experience. We expect commitment from you as a staff member and ensure your wellbeing is taken care of throughout your time with us. You will live on-site, in cabins with your fellow counselors and will take part in a wide range of cultural experiences both at camp and during your time off. STAFF TIME OFF
Our camp day begins when the campers arrive and ends when they leave, twelve days later. You will of course be entitled to your much needed time off during that period.
Counsellors will have a minimum of two hours off per day. This time can be spent getting some fresh air on a jog into town or relaxing in our counsellor lounge where you will have access to your mobile phones, free WiFi and TV. In addition to this you will have three evenings off per each twelve day session and three weekends off during the summer.
Kitchen and Maintenance staff are entitled to all evenings off as well as three weekends off throughout the summer.
Evenings can be spent visiting the local towns of Huntington and Cold Spring Harbor, where you will find restaurants, shopping malls and beaches as well as events like our annual Fireman's Fair, 4th July Fireworks and music concerts at Jones Beach.
On weekends you are free to travel further afield to see the amazing sights of New York City or visit other nearby states such as Washington DC or Philadelphia.
For those of you who want to save your well-earned money for after camp travels, Long Island is home to beautiful scenery and well known locations like The Hamptons. Staff are also welcome to stay at camp during their time off and use the pool when a Lifeguard is present.
