Camp Overview

Located in the Catskill Mountains of New York, Koinonia is situated on 1,200 acres of forest. With numerous facilities that offer opportunities for you, our guests, to be surrounded by God’s creation. Koinonia (Koin-ah-NEE-Yah) is a New Testament Greek word meaning community. Our Day Camp program this summer focuses on expanding the experiences of local community children as well as new campers who will be coming form the organizations and congregations in Metro New York that support our work here at Koinonia. Koinonia's Day Camp is not christian-affiliated. Our program will be involved in creating unique sessions with a skill focus for each one. For example, one of our weeks will incorporate introducing campers to concepts in art, music, and theater, while another week will be focused on teaching campers different sports and activities to create a healthy and active lifestyle. For three weeks of our summer, this program is expanded as an offer for families to join the experience and stay in our hotel-style Conference Center, while the children attend the day camp, the parents are allowed to explore the Catskills and return in the afternoon for special planned programming such as barbecues, outdoor movies, and dances! During our weekends, Koinonia also runs retreats for youth groups, congregations, weddings, etc. Koinonia is a camp with deep and rich history that has come back into light and is working to reinvent itself. Our staff includes locals and long time Koinonia staff members as well as a group of young post-college aged staff. Together we've worked to create a program that both works in the traditions of the camp but with new and exciting upgrades to bring new experiences to a new generation.
