Camp Overview
A co-ed day and overnight camp for ALL 5-17 year old youth situated in magnificent Watkins Glen State Park. Our goal is to help campers again independence, learn new skills and create lasting friendships. Campers get excited about learning because we promote Positive Youth Development and connect youth to Cornell University. We are an American Camp Association (ACA) accredited camp.
STAFF TIME OFF
Camp runs Sunday through Friday. Nights off work Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. Each counselor gets 1 night off per week and may leave camp. 1 night a counselor is to remain on camp, however, is considered "off duty." The 3rd night the counselor must be "on duty" and assist in covering cabins while other staff has the night off. Everyone must work 2 of the 3 working weekends. The other weekends the camp is not hosting campers, everyone is off duty from Friday, 6pm to Sunday 11am.
STAFF QUALITIES
We look for young adults who have a strong desire to work with youth in an outdoor setting. Those who have strong character, interpersonal skills, self-responsibility, good communication and decision making skills will be successful at our camp. Also, counselors with a strong work ethic, who can handle a long day of work and still manage to keep the campers safe and happy will do well. Finally, maturity is a must. Moving overseas for an entire summer takes great thought and preparation both mentally and emotionally.
