Camp Overview

When driving down the rustic dirt road to beautiful Camp Alice Pittenger (CAP), the first thing you will notice is how peaceful it is to be surrounded by pine trees, aspens and the sound of chattering squirrels. Two beaches on camp allow girls safe areas to splash and play in the water, balance on the stand-up paddle boards and compete in team races while paddling canoes and kayaks, all within view of our watchful lifeguards. On land, campers use communication and teamwork to conquer the challenges of the low ropes course where girls swing, balance and shimmy on cables, ropes and planks. At the archery range, girls practice bow and arrows skills using a plethora of different games to sharpen their aim. Over at the arts and crafts cabin nicknamed the “Tinker Shop,” creativity flows with the opportunity to use different mediums to build, paint, color and sculpt. When the day ends and the sun sets, campers and counselor head back to their cabins where girls giggle and share stories about their adventurous day. Scenic and sophisticated Camp Ta-Man-A-Wis (TAM) opens the doors to a girl’s spirit of outdoor adventure. Located at almost 7,000 feet elevation, surrounded by mountains, meadows and wildflowers, girls are inspired by the sounds and beauty of nature. In this natural wonderland, campers bond with new friends while they hike, practice at the archery range, and discover a plethora of outdoor skills including fire building, outdoor cooking, orienteering and stargazing. Campers make their home away from home in comfortable and simple cabins and platform tents.

STAFF TIME OFF

Staff receive at a minimum 2 hours off each day and 24 hours off each week.

STAFF QUALITIES

Girl Scouts of Silver Sage run two amazing camps each summer to give girls the opportunity to build courage, confidence and character while making the world a better place! Camp Alice Pittenger and Camp Ta-Man-a-Wis hire enthusiastic role models to mentor, support and foster leadership skills among our campers. The success of our campers is due, in large part, to the quality of the staff we hire. Staff members make or break the experience each camper will have at camp. If you are ready to make a huge impact, work hard and have the time of your life, Girl Scouts of Silver Sage is looking for you!
