Camp Overview
Easterseals Nebraska provides week-long overnight camps to individuals of all ages with special needs. We do all of the same camp activities as any other camp (including swimming, horseback riding, canoeing, hiking, ropes course, etc) but we adapt it to each unique individual so everyone has the chance to participate.
STAFF TIME OFF
During the 6 days/5 nights campers are at camp, we schedule a daily 2 hour afternoon or evening staff break during each full day. We rotate counselors each evening to sleep in the cabin with campers or sleep in a nearby staff house so everyone gets a few good nights of sleep throughout the week. Provided that all tasks are done in a fashionable manner, all staff have over 48 consecutive hours off on the weekends.
STAFF QUALITIES
We are looking for hard working, dedicated, caring and compassionate staff that are up for a very unique and rewarding challenge.
It isn't required to have experience working with those with disabilities. If you are open minded, willing to get outside your comfort zone, and frankly just want to have the most rewarding summer of your life, we will train, coach, and mentor you until you are comfortable and confident in this job.
