Camp Overview
The DPF 4-H Camp has been in operation since 1924, and serves both girls and boys ages 8-16. Located on the North Fork of Long Island, the camp combines forested areas, waterfront and open playing fields and lots of activities. Campers may choose from horseback riding, sports, woodworking, rocketry, arts and crafts, outdoor living, swimming, kayaking, challenge courses on both high and low elements, as well as a working farm with animals and a garden.
Staff at DPF 4-H Camp are generally ages 18-25. All camp staff join together at the beginning of camp for a training where you learn all about camp and its rules. On weekends off, staff are within 1.5 hours of New York City and can travel there by bus or train.
STAFF TIME OFF
Each staff member gets a minimum of 1 hour off per day. Plus 2-3 weekends (Saturday around 12 noon till Sunday 6 p.m.) per summer. Staff who have extended contracts will receive additional time off.
STAFF QUALITIES
We are looking for outgoing staff who have a strong desire to work with children in an outdoor setting. Staff with experience in any of the following a plus: lifeguarding, English horseback riding, adventure courses, sports, creative arts, farming and animal science.
