Camp Overview

For over 100 years, the Des Moines Y Camp has been filled with songs, laughter, adventures and friendship. Summer Camp is the foundation on which Y Camp is built. Overnight Camp, Day Camp, Family Camp and  Partner Camps all work to bring the impact and value of camp to all who enter the Valley. The Des Moines Y Camp serves kids ages 6 to 17 through overnight and day camping programs. Y Camp's mission is "to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, body and mind for all." We teach character development through the Christian Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. We seek to break barriers, teach independence, foster confidence and build up the next generation of citizens for life in a global society. Our programs areas are traditional; including archery, riflery, canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, sports, swimming, nature, climbing, and more. We serve around 5,000 kids throughout the course of a summer through our various programs.
