Camp Overview
Camp Young Judaea is a non-profit overnight camp that provides a fun, safe and memorable summer program for children ages 8-15 from a variety of Jewish backgrounds. We are located on Lake Baboosic in Amherst, New Hampshire, about an hour from Boston. We have more than 300 campers and more than 120 staff members. Although we are a kosher camp and most of our bunk counselors are Jewish, many members of our international staff are from a variety of faiths. We are located on a beautiful wooded site on a lake and have an extensive waterfront (waterskiing, sailing, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking and more), eight tennis courts, climbing wall, pool, archery range, indoor gym, arts, music, dance and theater facilities, as well as many playing courts and fields. Nearby there are many scenic vacation areas, including mountains and the seacoast.

Staff Time Off
Staff is given one day off a week. We provide van service for staff on their free time or days off and also have bicycles available for our staff’s use in their free time. An international liaison works with our staff to ensure they are having fun, getting rides out of camp for time off and have the chance to really explore New England.
Staff Qualities
All of our counselors are specialists in one or two particular areas, and all counselors live in a cabin with children and two or three other counselors. Kitchen, maintenance and support staff work on a shift schedule determined by their department head. In most cases, kitchen and maintenance staff do not live with or have direct responsibilities for campers, but as part of our community, they should enjoy children and have a great, positive attitude about work and being part of the community.
