Hmm... What's your role?
Staff Time Off
Our bunk counselors have 6 days off over the course of the summer. Camp Pembroke staff provide transportation to and from local buses and/or trains that travel to Boston and south to Cape Cod. We also offer opportunities to stay with a family, to enhance your cultural exchange. Evenings out of camp are determined by required coverage in the bunk life area. Counselors have one 45 minute free period off each day. Operations staff (kitchen, housekeeping and maintenance) have 8 days off during the summer. Evenings are free, subject to work flow. All staff must adhere to curfew.
Staff Qualities
All staff must have a strong work ethic, a desire to enhance the lives of our children, enthusiasm, a desire to learn about a new culture, and the ability to communicate clearly. Teamwork, flexibility, adaptability, positivity and respect for others are all necessary traits for our staff. All staff must be comfortable working at a Jewish camp, knowing that some things may be unfamiliar, but we always want staff to ask questions! Our goal is to ensure that all staff feel comfortable and welcomed in their new environment. Our expectation is that staff participate in all aspects of camp, not just the job they are hired to do. We want all staff to participate in evening programs and other special camp-wide activities like International Day/Night and Color War. Camp is a space where everyone is celebrated for who they are, where kindness is the norm and where we all get to be the best versions of ourselves.
