Camp Overview
Camp Middlesex is a traditional overnight camp for boys and girls aged 8-15. We are located on 70 acres of woods in Massachusetts, on a small brook. With a staff of 38, we take in up to 130 campers a week. Our philosophy is based on the 4-H life skills model (Head, Heart, Hands, and Health) and providing a sense of true community among all campers and staff. Creating friendships and memories is what we find most important at Camp Middlesex, we have lots of traditions that the campers live by, ridiculously fun inside jokes we all share, and lots of spontaneity. We run week long themed sessions, campers can come for 1 week or up to 8. Our most popular weeks being Color Week and International Week, where you will be on your native country's Olympic team! Prepare for a summer you won't forget and a new place to call home.
STAFF TIME OFF
Counselors have 2 hours off every day and 2 nights off a week, the nights off are from after dinner (6pm until curfew 1130pm). The week begins on Sunday at 10am and ends Friday at 8pm. Everyone is off from Friday at 8pm until Sunday at 10am, every weekend except one weekend they will be assigned to work a weekend with campers (we will take the children to a fun place - water park, amusement park, etc).
STAFF QUALITIES
I am looking for a real camp counselor! I want someone who is excited to work with kids, thrives on their fun energy, and is ready to put in the hard work and be highly responsible. Camp is extremely rewarding, but it also is what you make of it. I want my staff to be empowered to make their summer the best ever for both themselves and their campers, but also know that safety and supervision is the top priority. I am looking for staff that have experience in their program areas, are comfortable teaching the curriculum, and are most importantly energetic, spontaneous, and fun!
