Camp Overview
Founded in 1966, and still family owned and operated, Camp Friendship is located in Palmyra, Virginia, about 2.5 hours south of Washington, DC and 25 minutes from Charlottesville, Virginia. We have a huge property filled with a lake, pool, tennis courts, athletic fields, gym, drama theater, archery ranges, campfire, cabins, and over 60 horses!
This summer we will have about 220 campers per session, ages 7-16. We offer 1-week sessions for Traditional Camp and Equestrian Camp, and two 2-week sessions for Equestrian Camp. A lot of our campers come from the Washington, DC/Maryland/Virginia area, but we have campers from many different states and countries. We have a lot of international staff and some international campers, too!
We have about 80 counselors and 20 support staff members each summer. Our seasonal summer staff have the biggest impact on our campers!

Staff Time Off
Staff have 1 hour off each day and one 24-hour day off each week.
Staff Qualities
We are looking for kind, caring, selfless staff that truly care about kids and are willing to make them the center of attention. We hire staff members for their outstanding character and their willingness to go the extra mile to ensure campers have the best possible experience. On any given day, our staff are surrounded by forests, mountains, sunshine, starry night skies and of course…kids! Not bad for a day at the “office.”
