Camp Overview
Camp Gallahue is a resident camp located in Southern Indiana. We serve girls ages 7 to 17 years old. Our camp runs from Sunday to Friday, with a break for the counselors over the weekend. We have eight units with each unit having a different theme each week. Some of the themes are: Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Color Wars, Percy Jackson, Tangled, Beach Party-Hawaiian Luau, and our most popular horse back riding sessions. We have a lake with canoeing, sailing, and kayaking. We are a primitive camp; which means we sleep in platform tents. We cook out a meal once a week, and hike everywhere we go. Each unit has about 36 girls with 4 or 5 counselors. We hire lifeguards, boating staff, and unit counselors. Our camp is large and you will walk about 2 to 3 miles a day. We have weekly all camp sessions like: counselor hunt, sponge (water) fights, Dutch auction, barn dances, movies in the amphitheater. We sing songs, have campfires, have a 4th of July parade and day of games and fireworks. Our main focus is for the girls to make friends, become adjusted to living in nature and having great memories to take home with them!We also make sure each camper enjoys herself, gets along with the other campers, and stays safe.
STAFF TIME OFF
Every staff gets 2 hours of break each day- Monday thru Thursday. Sunday and Friday you do not because those are the days the girls arrive and depart. Staff have Friday afternoon thru Sunday morning off. We leave camp once it is clean and plans for the next week have been made. Sunday we arrive back to camp by noon.
STAFF QUALITIES
Needs to be able to live in the outdoors, because we live in platform tents. We walk up to 3+ miles everyday. Confidence in making decisions and the ability to keep calm in stressful situations. But most of all a willingness to have fun with the campers.
