Two Years Running! Camp America Recognised for What Matters Most

26.10.26

Camp America BEST SUPPORT SERVICE FINALIST British Youth Travel Awards 2026

Best Customer Service in 2025. Best Support Service in 2026. Two years running, we've been shortlisted for something we're incredibly proud of: looking after our people.

We're delighted to share that Camp America has been shortlisted for Best Support Service at the 2026 British Youth Travel Awards!

Following our shortlisting for Best Customer Service last year, this one feels particularly special.

Because of all the things we could win awards for, these are the ones that really matter to us.

We care about our people. And we take care of them.

It's that simple.

Your summer matters to us

We know that deciding to work at a summer camp in America is a big deal.

For many people, it's their first time travelling independently. There's excitement, nerves, a million questions and probably a parent or two wondering how it's all going to work!

And that's exactly why we're here.

Camp America has been helping young people spend their summers in the USA since 1969. We've seen just about every question, worry and unexpected situation you can imagine.

But just because we've been doing this for 57 years doesn't mean we take any of it for granted.

Every application represents a real person trusting us with a pretty important part of their life.

And we take that seriously.

Real people. Real support.

When you apply to Camp America, you're not just signing up through a website and being left to figure everything out yourself.

You'll speak to people who've actually done Camp America. People who remember the nerves before their interview, the excitement of getting placed and what it feels like to arrive at camp for the first time.

We're here to help with applications, visas, preparing for your summer and all those little questions you might feel silly asking.

You can speak to us online, over the phone, on WhatsApp or face-to-face at our events.

We've also created resources like our Summer Camp Rookie podcast to answer the questions people are genuinely asking, including what happens if you go alone, how friendships work and what life at camp is really like.

And if your parents have questions? We're happy to speak to them too.

We want you to feel confident about going, not just excited about getting there.

We're still here when you're in America

Getting you to camp is just the beginning.

Our US team provides 24/7 emergency support throughout the summer. We work directly with camps, visit them in person and step in when someone needs extra help.

Sometimes it's a small problem that needs sorting. Sometimes a placement isn't working out and we need to help find a solution.

And occasionally, it's something much more serious.

During the devastating Texas floods in 2025, our UK and US teams worked together to support young people affected, including providing practical assistance on the ground.

We hope you'll never need that level of help.

But we believe you should know it's there.

Because support isn't just what we promise before you go. It's what we do when you actually need us.

Some things will never change

The way we communicate has changed a lot since 1969.

We've got better technology, more ways to get in touch and more information available whenever you need it.

But one thing hasn't changed.

We still believe the best support comes from people who genuinely care.

People who pick up the phone. Who take the time to listen. Who know when someone needs a bit of reassurance and when they need someone to step in and help.

It's why so many of our team are former participants themselves. And why others have dedicated decades of their careers to Camp America.

We don't want you to feel like an application number.

We want you to feel like someone has your back.

Two years. Two shortlists. One thing that matters.

Being shortlisted at the British Youth Travel Awards for two consecutive years is something we're really proud of.

But what makes it special is what we've been recognised for.

Not how many people we recruit. Not how much content we create.

How we look after people.

To our incredible teams in the UK, US and around the world, thank you for everything you do behind the scenes.

And to everyone who's trusted us with their summer, thank you too.

We've been doing this since 1969, and we'll keep finding better ways to support the people who put their trust in us.

Your summer matters. And so do you.
