What role did you do at camp?

I went to Elks Camp Moore, a special needs camp in Haskell, NJ, in the Summers of 2022, 2023 and 2024.

My role in 2022 was a 1:1 counsellor, then in 2023 and 2024 I was the Music Specialist. 

Favourite summer camp memory?

Honestly, I have SO many great memories, but one that stands out to me was the trip in 2023, where for the first time since Covid, campers and Staff got to venture out and enjoy a whole day of activities. Being on top of a firetruck as part of a parade was an experience I never thought I'd ever have, and witnessing the smiles from the campers was just so lovely. 

Camp gave me more experience working with Special needs, and has benefited me greatly. I've made some amazing friends and been on some amazing adventures.

Where did you travel after camp?

I travelled a lot after all 3 summers. The first summer's travel month was probably my most exciting. My favourite place I went to was Honolulu Hawaii. My favourite activities were swimming with turtles and visiting the Dole pineapple farm. 

What are you doing now?

After Camp America, I decided to be an Au Pair in America,. It's been my best adventure yet! I am living currently in Virginia Beach, VA. 

A piece of advice...

My one piece of advice is to be open minded and open to opportunities. Be confident in your decision of Camp. I originally rushed into matching with a camp and when Covid hit and closed camps; I was able to take more time to make a better and more suitable choice for myself!

Definitely travel after camp if you can! Best decision I made was taking the leap.
