What role did you do at camp?

My first summer was 2024 where I was hired as a general counselor. Halfway through the summer I had the opportunity to move into the drama specialist role which was really exciting! For the 2026 season, I will be a Village Leader!

Why did you choose to do Camp America?

I grew up with a performing arts background so I was always looking for new ways I could get involved in the community which is how i discovered Camp America. I met my camp at a virtual fair and immediately had a good feeling about it after speaking to my director. It was a very quick decision but probably the best one I've ever made!

The friendships I made at camp are unlike any other, everyone made me feel so accepted and welcomed at camp and it helped me grow so much in my confidence so i will be forever grateful for the amazing people I've met. Shout out to Abi, Holly, Kayla, Emmanuel, Lee, Sebastian and Daniel!

Favourite summer camp memory?

My favourite memory has to be the end of session banquet! It's an evening where all the campers and counselors get dressed up and celebrate all the achievements from the summer. The campers will showcase everything they've learnt in their classes over the past 3 weeks. My campers performed scenes from musicals which were absolutely amazing! Being able to watch them come out of their shell was so rewarding and it meant a lot that so many of them were inspired to carry on doing theatre outside of camp!

My other favourite memory was the big water fight. We filled up buckets with water balloons and used anything we could find around camp to fill it with water and get as many people as we could. I remember my shoes were absolutely soaked and I walked back up to my cabin in just my socks, but it was SO worth it!

Where did you travel to after camp?

My camp worked a little bit differently to others as we had a week off in between our sessions. During this time me and my friends (we were known as The Brits) got an air bnb in Connecticut and went sightseeing around the area. We then got a second air bnb in New Jersey and spent a lot of time in New York visiting Central park, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square and Broadway (my favourite part!!) We got to celebrate my friend Abi's birthday which was so special to be part of!

A piece of advice...

Don't hold back! Get involved in everything, even if it feels silly - you will thank yourself later! Camp goes by so quickly, so embrace the experience and be present in the moment!
