Camp
Favourite camp memory?
My favourite moment of camp would have to be Mac (colour war). It was 3 days long, with one mac for each session (we have 2 sessions, 4 weeks long each). The camp is split into two teams, who went head-to-head in the competition. We had rope burn, marathon, which had running/ sport activities and completing tasks around camp for example swimming lengths of the pool and half-court basketball shots and much more!
Where did you travel to after camp?
I travelled the last two years before and after camp mostly to Florida to visit my best friends that I made in my first year at camp. I have made so many lifelong friendships with people that live across the world with some in Australia and many around the UK and America. I’m forever grateful for the people, I met whilst working at Camp Coleman.
What did summer camp teach you?
Camp has taught me many things, such as there is so much to see in the world, so many amazing people that are out there than teach you different perspectives on the world. I learnt how to be myself, love myself and embrace who I am as a person and that the correct people will love you for who you are. I learnt that stepping out of your comfort zone isn't as scary as it seems and it can be the best thing that could happen as it opens so many doors for you in the future.

What are you doing now?
Working with Camp America for 3 summers has given me to apply to work on a cruise ship in the kids’ club sector, and getting offered a position working and traveling around the world.
Camp America has made me realize I have to live my life to the fullest and go see the places that I’ve always dreamt of seeing, and that there’s so many opportunities out in the world that could be perfect for you. And live my life with no regrets.

A piece of advice…
My piece of advice for someone that is thinking/ doing Camp America for the first time would be just to go into it with an open mind and try not to have any expectations, everyone’s summer experience is different. Make the summer your own and make it the best summer possible. Make your own Camp America story and make it the one you want it to be.
