What role did you do at camp?
I started in 2022, been going every summer since! I started off as a General Counselor, I was a division head for 3 years and will be going back as the SIT director next summer.
Why did you choose to do Camp America?
My brother was actually the one who encouraged me to come along to the London fair in March, 2022. We got hired together and now I've been back more times than he has!

Favourite summer camp memory?
At the end of my first summer, after all of the last day celebrations (our last Shabbat service, talent show, camper of the session, stargazing), after all the chaos, the last 3 remaining campers in my bunk decided to push their beds together so they could sleep next to each other for their last night. It just made me realise the close bonds that camp can form, I had made a lot of friends that summer too, and I still talk to them to this day.

What impact did Camp America have on you?
I learnt that I have a real talent for working with kids, it taught me a lot about empathy, how to talk to kids, how to earn respect without just shouting all the time, I've worked with age groups from 6 all the way up to 14-15 and I've really learnt a lot about child development, how their brains work at different stages and understanding that you have to be patient with kids and meet them where they are.

A piece of advice...
You have to be able to make a fool out of yourself, I had the benefit of starting at camp when I was 24, but the counselors that campers remember, the one's who make an impact aren't the ones that sit on the sidelines observing, they're the one's that throw themselves into the pool, get dressed up for theme days and go all out during colour wars. You really do get out of camp all that you put into it.
