What role did you do at camp?

I did 5 summers at camp; 2018, 2019, 2023, 2024, 2025. YMCA Camp Takodah! 

I spent three years as a cabin leader before being promoted to Leader of the Leaders in Training, and then Trips Coordinator last summer.

Favourite camp memory?

One of my favourite memories is when we had this HUGE storm pass through, and all the kids were kinda miserable because of the rain and they were cold and staying indoors. So, me and my friend Molly decided to recreate Step Up where they’re dancing in the rain. There was this big flood outside the hobby area and all the kids were smiling and laughing as we did this scene from step up. And soon enough they were all joining in and it turned into a huge water fight. Picture below: 

Where did you travel to after camp? 

I tried to tick off at least one new state each summer. 2018, we went to Florida, 2019, we did Vegas Nevada, Santa Monica CA, and Denver CO. 2023, I did San Diego CA, Vegas again lol, Nashville TN. 2024, we did Nashville again, Chicago IL, Washington DC, and New York, and then this past year I had Dru and Chris’ wedding in San Diego, back to Nashville again again (I love it so much), New Orleans LA before staying at my friends in Boston MA.

What impact did Camp America have on you? 

It’s genuinely been the best decision I’ve EVER made. I used to wonder what that was, but now I’m positive that it’s that. My best friends in the whole world have all been made from going to camp. We’re still best friends now even though they didn’t come back after 2019. We spend every new years together, and we’ve traveled together to 4 continents which I think is incredible. 

A piece of advice...

My piece of advice is to embrace the crazy. Camp is such a different world to what we’re used to, and the campers adore the leaders who let out the child in them. Embrace the rain, go full throttle into colour wars, and always take an extension cable so you only have to buy one plug adapter.
