Izzy Bee Memorial Scholarship Fund

Are you interested in a life changing opportunity of international exchange and camp leadership? The Izzy Bee Memorial Scholarship Fund could be for you! This bursary is intended to cover Camp America programme fees, associated third party costs and other supporting costs for summer at camp.

Isabel "Izzy" McEgan

Named in memory of the late Isabel “Izzy” McEgan. Izzy was a Camp America participant who spent the summer of 2019 at Camp Small Valley, a Girl Scout camp in Pennsylvania.

Izzy’s experience at camp was transformative - she met the most amazing group of like-minded people, whose love and positivity, both when Izzy was diagnosed with cancer, and at the end of her life brought her so much happiness. These friendships continue to further her legacy and encourage others to #beemoreIzzy.

In the UK, Izzy was an active member of Girlguiding North-West and volunteered at her local Guide group, organising and running activities for young girls and making sure they always had fun and everyone was included. Through her dedication to Girlguiding Izzy completed her Young Leaders and Chief Guide Qualifications, Baden-Powell Award and Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards which she had also started to mentor others in.

The Izzy Bee Memorial Scholarship Fund continues Izzy’s legacy of adventure, positivity, selflessness and community by supporting another active member of Girlguiding to have a life changing opportunity to spend their summer at a Girl Scout camp in the US.

The Bursary

The recipient of the scholarship fund will receive up to £1000 to support their application to work at a Girl Scout camp through Camp America. This will be awarded to the recipient(s) in early April and is intended to assist with Camp America program costs, associated third party costs including Police Check, medical and visa costs and other supporting costs for summer at camp.

The fund was set up by Izzy’s parents and former colleagues at Camp Small Valley who will award the scholarship. The Izzy Bee Memorial Scholarship Fund is funded in part by a donor advised fund at the Foundation for Enhancing Communities. They are excited to support the recipient(s) to experience the life changing opportunity of international exchange and camp leadership.

To apply for this scholarship candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Be a registered member of Girlguiding North-West England.
  • Be committed to using your Girlguiding experience as part of a cultural exchange program at a Girl Scout camp in the U.S.

Consideration will also be given to participants who:
