Camp Overview
The mission of Green River Preserve is to inspire environmental stewards through a joyful connection to nature. Green River Preserve is a non-competitive, coed summer camp connecting children with nature. Located on a 3,400 acre private wildlife preserve in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, this extraordinary natural setting inspires campers to have a greater understanding of themselves, their environment, and each other. Designed for bright, curious, and creative children, our program nurtures character development and fosters skills like perseverance, curiosity, communication, optimism, creativity, and GRIT.
STAFF TIME OFF
In between sessions (5 times per summer) staff have approximately 48 hours off. During sessions, staff rotate between mornings and evenings off depending on their specific duties. Additional time off during a day may consist of an hour during rest hour or after lights out.
STAFF QUALITIES
We look for staff who love the outdoors and working with kids. During several of our sessions, the whole camp goes on a 2 night 3 day backpacking trip. We train staff on how to lead this trip during staff training. We ask that staff be willing to be certified in Wilderness First Aid and offer training for that beginning May 20th.
