Camp Overview
Camp Lokanda is one of the premier camps on the eastern coast of the United States. We are in upstate New York, set in the amazing Catskill Mountains, on Lake Loch Ada, from which we named our camp. We have been around for over 70 years.
We are a co-ed traditional sleep-away camp and have about 475 campers, ranging from ages 8 to 16. We have a wide range of sports and activities for our campers to experience.
To look after so many campers, we invite 250 staff to join us from all over the world. Lokanda prides itself on being a safe, fun environment for everyone to grow and develop.
STAFF TIME OFF
Our staff get 1 day off a week, not including the first and last weeks of camp.
Staff work on a rotating shift system where they are "on duty". We do have a curfew for all of our staff to be back in their bunks.
STAFF QUALITIES
Camp Lokanda looks for positive, energetic and caring staff to be a part of our team. Our activity counselors have experience in their area (ex, lifeguarding or coaching a sport).
Lokanda is screen free. We do not have phones or smartwatches at camp. There is strong wifi at the staff lounge.
All food is provided at camp. We are completely nut free, so we do not allow any outside food to be brought into camp. We are also a kosher style camp.
