Waiting to be placed

by megan7172 » 08 Apr 2014, 10:52

Hey everyone!
I've been waiting to be placed for around 3 weeks now. I'm getting nervous because I know summer is quite close now and lots of people are already placed! Does anyone know any other way to help my application? Or is it just waiting until I hear something? Thankyou!!

Hi there,

People still get placed all the way up to summer starting so you shouldn't worry too much, but I know the feeling of just wanting to be placed and ready to go.

In the meantime it can't hurt to just email camps a quick message. Doesn't have to be much. Maybe just that you're interested in their camp and would appreciate them checking out your application with Camp America? And make a video, I've heard it really improves your chances.

:D

I'm in the same boat! :( I've been RTP since the end of March also and find myself checking my emails ALL the time! Lol, to the point where I get annoyed at any other e-mails coming through! Haha. Summer is fast approaching and it's such a worry! Hope everything goes well for you, and fingers crossed we hear something soon. :) xx

I am in the exact same position, my application has been circulating for about a month now and just want to know if I'll be placed and what the chances are. How do I get a list of camps that are with Camp America so that I can email them? Feeling like I have nothing to loose so may as well try!

I don't think there's any official list but if you go onto American camps association website there is a search camps thing on it. Generally most camps I found seem to take part in CA but you can also go on the website and if it says they have staff from all around the world then they probably use CA.

Alternatively go on google maps, find a spot you like and search camps near there :)

Hey guys, wondering if anyone could help. I've been invited for an interview in California for a camp. However I live in England! Will they expect me to fly out there!?

Megan, try telling them that you live in England and ask if you can have an interview over skype or on the phone - my camp interviews American staff face-to-face and internationals over skype.

I would assume they meant invite you for a Skype interview. Camp America is for hiring international staff and no camp can reasonably expect you to fly out for an interview.
