Medical forms? Do doctors just make up their own price?

by charlotte7638 » 27 Apr 2012, 16:01

What is the dealio with that? Ive heard some doctors charging £10 then others over £50. Ive asked my doctor and he said £55. I think thats ridiculous considering all he has to do is fill out a form that takes 5minutes..

So can I take this to any doctor to fill out (compare prices) or does it have to be the doctor you have been registered with?

Hi charlotte, i got mine done at least a couple of months ago and my doctor charged £20. i think £55 is totally disgusting so maybe you should protest about it and ask why its so high or find another doctor to do it lol! silly me didnt even realise it would cost anything! ha i cant believe they charge at all! 20 is bad enough. my doctor must have charged me for the ink in her printer as she cudnt even be bothered to tick the part and jabs, she just printed off one sheet and gave a stamp and signature... oh sorry TWO stamps. must have been hard work lol x

mine charged me £25, but you cant get it done at any other doc, because your not registered there. The only thing for you to do is talk to them and explain that others dont charge that much, but sadly if they dont change their mind, you dont really have a choice :(

For the last 5 years mine has been free, but this year i was charged £20!

I dont know how they work it out! I think it depends on the Doctor you see!

My Uni doctors charge £15 and I get a 20 minute appt with the nurse to discuss immunisations and then a double appointment with the doctor to fill out the form

I threw my dummy out and had a go at the doctor, said it was ridiculous that I had to pay that much to fill out a form. So my mum called up the next day, and apparently its £15 and I had 'mis-heard' them. Bloody doctors!

Thanks for all your replies!

So I was also wondering do we need to get any vaccines?

they definitely just make up prices!!! it's a joke.
when i gave the doctor my form she didn't have a clue so she just compared it to another form which they charged 25 quid for- i said this was a bit steep so she did it for 20. i was like, are we actually haggling here?!

Mine ended up not costing anything. It was supposed to be £15 but I went in and had it all done today and they didn't even mention charging me! Hope you guys all manage to get it sorted!
