VISA Photo Help?!

by alissa2763 » 20 Apr 2012, 18:43

I tried uploading pictures i'd taken myself on the online visa application, and none of them would get accepted. So today i went to a photo store and paid £9.99 to have two official America visa photos taken. I get home, scan it on to my computer, and it still won't get accepted on the online application! It says the quality isn't good enough!

HOW do you get a picture to fit the requirements?
And does the picture on the online thing have to be the same as the ones you take to the appointment with you?

Stressing out here seeings as i've just forked out a tenner for pictures that don't work!

It gives you the option not to upload the photo and take it to your appointment!

That's what I done and it's no hassle at all!

Can you really do that!?
It doesn't make any extra hassle when you're at the appointment does it?
I think i saw that Continue Without Photo bit, but i assumed it was just like a temporary thing you could click until you found a suitable photo lol!

I found the scan had to be quite light; the first one i uploaded was normal/darkish and it was denied, i then rescanned and found it was a bit lighter and that got accepted without a problem.

How did you get the photo to be lighter though? Did it just do it on its own? I guess i could try putting it in the middle of my scanner rather than the side ha

I didn't have any hassle at all with taking a photo and not uploading one!

I literally went in and out within 15 minutes!! The first bloke didn't even say anything about me taking a photo instead of uploading one!

I honestly wouldn't go through the hassle of trying to upload it if you can just take one!

The option is at the bottom of the page I think.

Also, the online photo check thing is NOT reliable as well, it approved my photo, but when I had my interview, they rejected it, and I had to go out the embassy, to get to my stuff to get some cash, and get photos taken for it. Pain in the Banned Word. So don't worry about meeting the websites standards.

There is a photo booth in the embassy as well, which costs £5, if worst comes to the worst. I used that.

Hi,
I have uploaded a passport photo online which was accepted- but I don't know how to print that picture out so it is the correct size.

I'm just wondering does the photo you take to the embassy have to be the same photo that you uploaded or can I take a different one.
Thanks

At the end of the online form they give you a page to print off with a barcode and the picture on it so no need to print the photo sepretly, just take the scanned photo down.

when i was down on thursday for my visa the CA guy checked my form and said that they might reject my photo but not to worry as there was a pharmacy down the road that could do it for £4, the guy didnt even bat an eyelid at my photo and i was served in a matter of minuites

When taking the photo with you, did you take a normal passport photo? Or did you take one that is 2" by 2"?
