Official Review of Central Park Hostel-New York City

Hi all,

As you all know Camp America is affiliated with the Central Park Hostel and you all have wonderful rates which are listed in the Travel Partners section. You have to quote Camp America when you are booking or checking in.

I recently spent a night at the hostel as I was in The Big Apple. Here is my official unbiased opinion on the hostel.

Location- 103rd West St which is by the West Entrance of Central Park and a 20 second walk from the hostel. The closest Subway Station is literally 10 seconds away. It is a 10 min ride to Time Square or 20 mins to Liberty Park/Wall Street. 4/5

Local Area- The local area is nice, lots of culture around with a diverse community, it may look shady in parts but this is NYC and not once did I fear for my safety. There were local shops 4 Blocks West of the hostel for places to eat, roughly a 10min walk. I walked the area at night and felt at ease. Remember you do need to be careful in any big city. 4/5

Hostel Staff- The staff are friendly and are aware of all our Camp America applicants, they are always willing to help and point you in the right direction although at times they may need an extra pair of hands. 3/5

How about the Hostel-The Hostel is a fairly standard hostel and is above average. There does need to be some minor work done to it but there is a nice lounge, with pool table and internet access at $1 for every 10mins. The rooms come in 8 bed dorms, 6 bed dorms, private rooms. The rooms are fairly clean and spacious for what they are although they may need a few more showerheads. 3/5

Overall- I would recommend the hotel without hesitation, great location and the subway system is easy to use. You have Central Park at your doorstep and the hostel itself is a fairly standard hostel that will suit your needs if this is what you are after. 4/10

I hope this helps as we do want to ensure all of our applicants enjoy their after camp travels as much as camp. Many of you tend to stay in NYC and if you are looking for a good time in NYC with a cheap place to stay this is the place.

Hope you all have fun on your travels.
