What You Pay
At Camp America, we pride ourselves on our 'upfront and honest' approach to fees and payments, as we want you to know and understand exactly what you're paying for - and when you need to pay. We split our prices into bite sized chunks; making payments more manageable to your stage of application.
Payments are split into two groups:
- Camp America fees (payments that come to us for your interview, admin, placement and Medical Insurance)
- Other fees (which we immediately pay out to external companies, for things such as your police check and visa)
To begin the Camp America process, applicants are only required to make the 1st payment of £69 which is paid prior to the interview stage. If your are not succesful at interview then this payment will be refunded, upon request.
Please Note: Travel costs to New York when your placement is over are not covered in the Camp America programme fee and are the responsibility of the applicant.

- Camp America is committed to child protection and the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and requires all participants need to have a clear criminal record in order to work on a summer camp in the USA!
- US Embassy Visa Fee - $160
In order to work on a summer camp in the USA, non-American citizens must apply for a J1 visa, pay the application fee and visit a US Embassy in person for an interview.
- Medical Form Fee
All participants must have a Camp America medical history form completed by their GP to ensure they are fit and healthy for summer camp. Costs vary and will be set by your local GP.
As part of the Camp America programme you will receive pocket money from your camp at the end of your placement. As a first time participant this can range anywhere from $600.00 - $1,200.00 USD, depending on your prior experience, role and responsibilities.
In order to make the programme affordable for you, we also pass on some costs to your camp which they then deduct from your pocket money. The bulk of these costs are to cover your return flights, but also include the staffing and operational costs involved in making your placement happen! From completing your interview, to checking your references, to reviewing your background, to finding you a camp placement, to sorting your visa, to booking you a flight, to organising your transfers, to arranging your medical insurance, to training you at our camp induction - we are there for you every step of the way, supporting you from start to finish!
Once you've completed a summer at camp, if you decide to go back the whole process becomes a lot cheaper - because the hard work has already been done. This means you'll PAY LESS and there is NO CHARGE TO YOUR CAMP - so your pocket money will be a lot higher!
