2009 SEASON OWN TRANSPORT AGREEMENT
In deciding to choose the option to arrange your "Own Transport" you will be responsible for your travel arrangements to the USA and to your Camp or Resort (follow the instructions given to you by your Camp or Resort). All details regarding Own Transport can be found below.
New Zealand applicants - please note Travelcafe will arrange your Own Transport flight to the USA (and you pay them). You need to communicate with your camp about the balance of the journey to camp.
Applicants outside Europe (eg Australia and New Zealand) may be automatically assigned the own transport option.
Please read all of the information below carefully.
The deadline for changing to either a Camp America flight or the Own Transport option is 1st April 2009. Any changes after this date will be subject to a penalty fee being imposed.
Once you have applied to the programme your online details in Camp America Direct will show if you are assigned to the own transport option or a Camp America flight - please make sure that this information is correct.
Camp America
OWN TRANSPORT AGREEMENT
Please read all of the points listed below, as these are the conditions concerning the Own Transport Option.
1. You must pay all Camp America payments (except airport tax & fuel surcharge).
2. As an OWN TRAVELLER you are responsible for making your own travel arrangements to and from America - you are not eligible to fly on a Camp America flight in either direction.
3. You are entitled to one night's accommodation at the hotel used by Camp America in New Jersey, which has to be the night before you are due at your assignment and which must coincide with a Camp America flight arrival. Booking must be confirmed in advance with Camp America. Compensation cannot be made for non-use of the hotel. Please be advised that you are not required to stay at the hotel, and that if you are placed in another area of the USA it is preferable that you arrive in that area and travel directly to your assignment. If you wish to stay at the hotel you must request a place and confirm this reservation 48 hours before you arrive. FAILURE TO CONIFRM YOUR RESERVATION WILL RESULT IN YOUR ROOM BEING CANCELLED.
4. Your camp director is responsible for providing you with information about how to get to your assignment. You are expected to pay for the journey from your home to the closest domestic US airport to your camp. If you are not being collected from the airport you will be reimbursed the travel expense from the airport to the camp at the least expensive fare rate regardless of the mode of travel (you MUST keep your receipt).
5. It is important that you ascertain from your camp (preferably in writing) prior to your departure, the amount you will be reimbursed for domestic travel.
6. You are advised not to make any international/domestic flight arrangements that cannot be cancelled/altered without a refund, even if you have had a placement confirmed. This is in case last minute placement changes have to be made or the placement falls through. Camp America will not make any compensation payments for any travel arrangements that you need to change or cancel in any circumstances.
7. If you were eligible for a free Camp America regional flight, and change to the Own Transport Option, but then change back to your original flight option, you will no longer be eligible for the free regional flight and you will have to pay the supplement or fly from London.
8. All flights or other bookings purchased from Camp America agents are considered to be private arrangements made independently and are not part of the Camp America programmes in any respect.
9. Your date of arrival at your camp must be in strict accordance with their instructions, and should coincide with the Camp America arrival date on your placement information.
10. Your camp is obligated to pay you the appropriate pocket money plus own transport reimbursement (NB - the Australian and New Zealand websites includes the OT reimbursement in pocket money rates). All returners will receive $700 own transport reimbursement. First time particpants may be allowed to make their own travel arrangements, depending on your country of application. If you have already been assigned to the OT option your reimbursement will be stated next to your pocket money on your Personal Details page in CA Direct. If you have not yet selected the OT option, please email flights@campamerica.co.uk to see if you are eligble for this option and to find out reimbursement amounts for your country.
Own transport reimbursement will usually be paid with your pocket money at the end of your assignment. IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE YOUR ASSIGNMENT, YOUR OWN TRANSPORT REIMBURSEMENT WILL BE PRO-RATED FOR THE TIME THAT YOU WORKED. Any extra flight expenses are your responsibility. Remember, all camps and resorts are charged a fee by Camp America - if you receive a contract from your camp or resort the total amount of pay stated may include the fee to be paid to Camp America.
11. Once you are at your assignment you will share the full benefits of regular Camp America participants. At the end of your 9-12 week assignment you will be responsible for your own transport home. The insurance package will commence on your outbound flight from your home country to the United States. Coverage ends at 153 days, October 31st or the date you cease to be a Camp America participant. Failure to show at camp will result in all insurance being terminated.
12. If you are fired it is your responsibility to make your own return flight reservations and all costs incurred are your responsibility.
Please understand the above Own Transport conditions does not guarantee a placement on the Camp America programme.
