Top 10 Places

The travel is one of the most fun parts of the programme - it's your time to let loose, kick back, step-up, have fun and live life! And there's no where better to do all of that than in the US. The landscape is indescribable (but we'll give it a go!) from the mountains in Colorado, to the beaches in Florida, from the wide-open spaces of Texas to the old-style charm of Louisiana, from the deserts and canyons of Arizona to the cities of New York, Chicago, Seattle, Washington DC...there is quite honestly something for everyone to enjoy - whether it's nature, beach-life, history, art & culture or just plain shopping there's fun stuff to do in every state.

So where will you head? Down the East Coast? Up the West Coast? Cross Country? Here's the list (in no particular order)

1. Colorado

Colorado is located in the West and also considered to be a part of the Mountain, Southwestern, and Central regions of the United States. Denver is the capital and the most populous city of Colorado.

Denver is famous for the Rockies which stretch all the way up into Wyoming, Montana and in to Alberta,Canada. The Rocky Mountains within Colorado contain 54 peaks that are 14,000 feet (4270 m) or higher, known as fourteeners.

2. Florida

Florida, also known as the Sunshine State, is the most Southeastern States in the country. Most of the state is a large peninsula with the Gulf of Mexico on its west and the Atlantic Ocean on its east. It has a warm and humid subtropical climate. The capital is Tallahassee and the largest city is Jacksonville
Florida has plenty to offer from catching a college football game at the home of the Gators(The Swamp) in Gainsville to all Disney has to offer 2 miles south in Orlando to the Hispanic culture in Miami.

3. Texas

Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. With an area of 268,581 square miles (695,622 km²) and a population of 23.5 million in 254 counties, the state is second-largest in both area and population -- behind Alaska and California, respectively. One out of two Texans reside in the metropolitan areas of Houston or Dallas-Fort Worth.

4. Louisana

Louisiana is a Southern state of the United States of America. The capital is Baton Rouge and the largest city is New Orleans.

The surface of the state may properly be divided into two parts, the uplands, and the alluvial and coast and swamp regions. The alluvial regions, including the low swamps and coast lands, cover an area of about 20,000 square miles (52,000 km²); they lie principally along the Mississippi River, which traverses the state from north to south for a distance of about 600 miles (1,000 km) and ultimately emptying into the Gulf of Mexico, the Red River, the Ouachita River and its branches, and other minor streams.

5. Arizona

Arizona is located in the Southwest and is best known for it's desert landscape. Arizona is one of the four corner states and borders, New Mexico, Utah, Neveda, California and touches Colorado. Arizona is best known for the Grand Canyon although it has plenty more to offer including other National Parks, Monuments and Indian Reservations. Summer temperatures in parts soar to 45 °C.

6. New York

New York is a state in the northeastern United States. It is occasionally referred to as New York State when it is distinguished from New York City. Because a significant majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.

While the state is best known for New York City's urban atmosphere, especially Manhattan's skyscrapers, most of the state is dominated by farms, forests, rivers, mountains, and lakes. New York's Adirondack State Park is larger than any U.S. National Park outside of Alaska. Niagara Falls, on the Niagara River as it flows from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, is a popular attraction.

7. Chicago

A visit to Illonois is not complete without experience Chicago. Try to catch a show at the famous Apollo Theater, where comedians like Chris Rock got their start www.apollochicago.com or check out some art at the Art Institute of Chicago. It is worth going to a baseball game at the famous Wrigley field, or the World Series Champion The Chicago White Sox.

8. Seattle

Seattle is where Grunge music came from, home to Nirvana and is now very much the center of the Indie-Emo scene, bands like Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie are all from Washington state. Seattle is a really cool city as there is plenty to do from the music scene to great little cafes and bars. There is a lot of sport for any of your sport fantatics. Be sure to walk through Seattle's Fish Market and have a great meal with a little entertainment. Whatever you do, you will have a great time in the most populated city in the Pacific Northwest.

9. California

The Golden State is the most populated state in the United States and located on the Pacific Coast. California is known for its pleasant climate and ethnically diverse population.
California's diverse geography ranges from the sandy beaches of the Pacific to the rugged, snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains in the east. The central portion of the state is dominated by the Central Valley, one of the most vital agricultural areas in the country. The Sierra Nevada contain Yosemite Valley, famous for its glacially-carved domes, and Sequoia National Park, home to the largest living organisms on Earth, the Giant Sequoia trees, and the highest point in the contiguous United States, Mount Whitney.

10. Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is a state in the northeastern part of the United States. Pennsylvania has 51 miles (82 km) of coastline along Lake Erie and 57 miles (92 km) of shoreline along the Delaware Estuary. Philadelphia is home to a major seaport and shipyards on the Delaware River.

Pennsylvania is home to the nation's first zoo, the Philadelphia Zoo. Other notable zoos include Claws 'n Paws, Erie Zoo, Pittsburgh Zoo, and ZOOAMERICA. The state boasts some of the finest museums in the country. One of the unique museums is the Houdini Museum. The only building in the world devoted to the legendary magician. It is also home to the National Aviary, located in Pittsburgh.
