Returner deals

If you’re reading this then you’ve either stumbled onto the wrong page or camp was everything you hoped it would be (and more) and you’ve already begun your countdown to next summer. If the latter applies then the great news for you is that CA has a fresh and exciting Returner Deal that is exceptionally friendly to not only your pocket – but also your camp’s pocket!

Going back to the same camp?

For 2013, no program fee will be charged to your camp whatsoever* and Camp America are charging only £236 (not including 3rd party fees as detailed below) to you, if you arrange your own flight/transport to camp. This deal is also applicable to returning summer camp staff who may have previously participated on a program, other than Camp America**. This doesn’t include third party costs (see below.)

Should you wish Camp America to take care of your flight arrangements, then we’ll certainly do so for an additional £80 – which covers the European Airport Security Tax & Fuel Surcharge. Your flight, which is based on a London to New York return***, which will be billed to your camp. As a Camp America returner, you will have the opportunity to negotiate your own pocket money rate directly with your camp**** and therefore your camp will deduct the price of your flight directly from your final pocket money – making it super easy and economical for you to secure your return to camp!

Both of these options include Camp America’s comprehensive medical insurance and our flight package to New York also includes airport collection, an overnight stay at our arrivals hotel and detailed travel to camp instructions.

Please Note: Campower returners will now have to pay first-timer rates, will receieve first-timer pocket money & camps will be billed our first-timer fees!

*In both instances, a $35 US government administrative fee (SEVIS) is billed to your camp.
**Returners transferring to Camp America from another program will require a face-to-face interview.
***Alternative departure and arrival airports are available, on request.
****Once your salary has been agreed, ask your camp to send you a contract confirming the amount you will be paid.

Fancy trying a new camp?

Applicants wishing to return with Camp America, who are seeking placement on a new camp*, will incur a £96 placement fee which covers the cost involved in finding you a new placement. Thus, the own transport option is priced at £332 and the CA flight option is priced at £412. All other conditions above apply to both of these packages.

*Any returning applicant seeking a new placement will require a face-to-face interview.

Third Party Costs

All Camp America participants are required to complete an enhanced disclosure and barring service check, for entry onto our programme. Any applicant who can produce an ACRO (Police Certificate from the Criminal Records Office), CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) or DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) form obtained in 2012 will NOT be required to submit a new application for 2013. Applicants with forms dated before 2012 need to obtain these background checks at a cost of £44 (ACRO for Scottish applicants) or £45 (DBS for English and Welsh applicants and Access NI for Northern Irish applicants).

All Camp America participants are required to have their doctor/physician complete the Camp America Medical Form. Any applicant who has a form signed and dated from 2012 may not require a new one, if you are returning the same camp and your camp is satisfied with the information provided in your original medical form. You are required to inform us if this is the case so we can keep your record fully up to date.

All Camp America participants are required to pay for their J-1 visa, to allow them to work in the States. You need to complete a full application for your visa each year you participate on camp. If you are a UK applicant and had a face-to-face meeting at the US Embassy in 2012, you may be eligible to apply for your visa by post at the additional cost of £23. The deadline to apply by post is April 1st 2013.

2013 US Embassy Fee: £140* (as of January 17th 2013)
Optional Baggage Insurance: £72

*Subject to increase.
