Become an Interviewer

The Camp America International Interviewer network is made up of over 400 Camp America individuals - working in countries throughout the world from Australia to Austria from the UK to the Ukraine. We are actively seeking to recruit new interviewers who have had a positive cultural exchange experience (or proven relevant experience in recruitment) to help us send more enthusiastic young people to the States!

You will become part of the local representation of Camp America, so great interpersonal skills are a must.  We are seeking candidates with both strong written and spoken communication skills in English, who are able to manage their time/workload appropriately. Our interviewers use a bespoke Online Applications system and therefore we require candidates to have regular internet access. Candidates must also be personable and approachable and be prepared to coach and motivate their applicants, and essentially nurture them through the application process. Based on your own experiences, you will be asked to share your stories and to encourage potential applicants to recognise the skills they have and to help them make the most of their application, whilst still maintaining the standards set by the company.

"When I returned from my first summer at Camp Westmont, Pennsylvania, I quickly realised that camp was not going to be a one-time thing. Camp had made a real impact on me and I wanted to continue to be a part of it for as long as I could. It was all I could talk about and hearing of the opportunity to become a Camp America interviewer really did seem perfect. It was a way I could encourage others to take part in the programme and talk to people about camp who were just as eager to hear my stories as I was to share them. It provided me with a job that I could fit around my university commitments and would allow me to return to camp each summer, conveniently there for me each autumn as I returned" - Nicki Reilly, Glasgow Interviewer

The key-element of the role will involve pre-screening potential applicants during a 45-60 minute face to face interview, where you’ll follow a specific framework outlined in the extensive training you’ll receive from Camp America. Our training includes interview techniques, safeguarding procedures and safer recruiting techniques.

In return you'll have the chance to keep involved with Camp America and the skills that you learn as an interviewer are transferable to a wide variety of different careers. Many of our Interviewer alumni have feedback to us that the skills and experiences gained through interviewing for Camp America have been invaluable within their professional lives. Interviewers are paid a commission based on number of interviews conducted throughout the recruitment season and there is great potential to earn a good additional income.

The skills that you will learn and develop as an interviewer are transferable skills that will add to and boost your CV! Furthermore, interviewing is a part-time responsibility and you can fit your workload around your existing work or educational commitments.
