What next?

After The Interview...

Once you've followed all the advice and instructions your interviewer has given you, and you've paid your money, completed your Programme Application, sent your references and police check off, you'll be able to check the progress of your application through the Camp America Direct site. But here's a brief overview of what happens...

Application is received by local Camp America office, skills and experience assessed and pocket money rate set. You'll be asked (via Camp America Direct) to confirm your personal details which will be used for your visa application at a later date.

Application is sent electronically to our US office where it is displayed on our CA online site, which is used by over 900 camps who can search by availability date, skills etc.

Once your application is placed by a camp, you'll be notified by email and asked to log in to Camp America Direct to find out your placement details, confirm them, make your next payments and start your visa procedure.

You'll receive a mailing from Camp America which as well as containing your visa papers will also contain your medical form (which your Doctor will need to complete) and your Participant's Handbook (which will be your bible for the summer - read it cover to cover, take it with you and don't lose it!!!)

Applying for the J-1 Visa

Once you have your J-1 visa papers, you'll be asked to complete your DS2156 form online with the US Embassy before booking an interview.

Attend your interview with the US Embassy on the date specified by them - turn up on time, have all the paperwork you need with you - and be ready to wait! You'll be told on the day whether or not you've got your visa and in most cases your passport will be sent back to you at a later date.

Leaving on a jet plane...

Your getting closer to summer now and via Camp America Direct you can log in to see details of the flight you'll take over to the US which you should confirm (although please note this is subject to change). At this time you should ensure that all your payments are made and that you've returned your Camp America Medical Form.

Via the Camp America Direct site you'll be asked to print out your flight itinerary and 'Travel to Camp Instructions'... then all that's left to do is turn up on time for your flight, sit back and enjoy your last few hours of quiet relaxation...once you touchdown...
