Hurricane Irene Update: 28th August, 23:58 GMT

The Hurricane was downgraded to a Tropical Storm by the time it hit New York, however there was some damage which is currently being assessed. Whilst President Obama has said the fall out will be lengthy, airports in New York are set to re-open tomorrow.

It is expected to be busy at all airports in the New York area as they attempt to clear any backlogs caused by the hurricane. The current advice from Virgin Atlantic is as follows:

“If you have already been re booked on a flight due to leave in the next 5 days i.e. up to and including Friday 2 September please do not call us. We will not be able to bring you home any sooner so please check in for your new flight as usual.”

Essentially, if you have a flight in the coming week you can expect to check in and fly as expected. However please check your particular flights before departing for the airport.

For those of you who have not been rebooked please be patient as we are doing our utmost to get you on the next available flight(s). Our UK and US Offices will be open on Monday 29^th August for any of your queries.
