So I got back from America yesterday and i've never felt so lost i loved camp so much and all the amazing people I met there. The kids were hard work at times but I wouldn't have had it any other way. If I could get a full time job there i'd move back tomorrow. If anyone is thinking about doing camp America don't think about it just do it you won't regret it.

So it's just over a week till I fly out just gotta get a few more bits in then I'm all set, been given a big list from camp of what things to bring to camp. I've spoke to a lot of people on Facebook who are going to my camp and they all seem really nice, two of the lads are from liverpool and live not to far away from me so it'll be good to have to fellow scousers at camp with me. Hope I can find some people who are on the same flight as me so i'll have someone to talk to.

So I finally got a place at a camp called camp starfish and I can't wait to go. The camp looks so good and it's just outside boston so I can also catch a Red Sox game whilst I'm there witch makes it even better. I haven't found anyone on facebook, twitter or even on the CA forum who is going to my camp so I hope I'm not the only one at camp lol

So my amazing 9 weeks have ended !

I can't believe how fast it has been and how many amazing memories has been created because of camp.
From learning to kayak to riding a horse for the first time, this summer has been the best ever and I wish to thank Camp America for giving me the opportunity to live the summer camp life.

Although I am not going back next year, I would reccomend this programme to anyone wanting to do something different with their summer.

I can't believe I'll be going to Camp Hayward in 20 days !

I got an email from my director telling me I will be teaching swimming for the 9 weeks which is so awesome ! Spending my summer swimming, getting fit and getting a tan sounds perfect to me.

I've also just got my caxton fx card and loaded it with $200. I will be putting more onto it once I've saved up my money and should hopefully have around $400 on it before I go. I don't really need much money as I won't be buying too much and probably only doing a bit of travelling depending on how much money I have at the end of camp. As long as if I spend at least one day in NYC I will be fine.

I also had a lovely time meeting some girls from my camp, it just got me so excited ! This camp sounds so perfect for me to be working at

That's all I can think of to write atm, bye for now !

Orientation Day :)

Today I went to the Orientation that Camp America had put on. As I had to go back to the student house, cause I had to get a few things done, I got up at about 6am. When I was making my way to the venue, I had loads of problems with the trains but I got there just in time. I sat at the front and had to fill in an attendance form and a short questionnaire, and I also had a leaflet about cheap calls and a free pen. When the Orientation started they showed at a list of about five things, which were Airport travel, Life at Camp, After camp travel and some others that I can't remember. They formed us into groups of about 15 and asked us to come up with five questions about our given subject, which was Airport Travel. We also had to sing a short song which I was very nervous about to begin with but it was a nice thing to do, as when I get to camp I will have to do things that I would never do. After each group at spoken, they also covered the subject in there presentation slide-show and all questions where answered. I didn't really have any questions and I did have some fun. After Camp America had finished, we had a short presentation from Camp America Treks, which was very nice but it wasn't anything I hadn't heard already. They also had a competition for a free two week trek, so I went for that. The meeting when on for about three hours and after wards I asked about how I go about printing my out bound ticket and so some question about what should I do if a camper wets the bed or sleepwalks. When I got home I found my Camp America hoodie, which I love. I'm feeling a bit bad cause of my weight but I'm going to do loads of sit-ups the evening and do my best to loose some of it before camp starts. I'm also going on trip with my parents for a week, so hopefully I will be alot slimmer when I come back.

29 days !

Eeeeeek !
Can't believe it's only 4 weeks 'till I leave for America ! It's gone so fast !

I'm getting even more excited lately as well because me and a few girls from camp are meeting up on Saturday for lunch so that'll really get us anticipating the summer :D
I feel so honoured at being placed at my camp as well because of the amount of returners going back there and the camp looks simply amazing.

Not much has happened in terms of my CAD, I've sent of my medical form, paid everything of and now just waiting to re-confirm my flight details !
Oohh, and I love the new website, it's awesome and the videos are really good !

I've also just gotten asked to go for an interview at EYPS (a supply agency working in childcare settings in the north east) which means if I get the job, after my amazing summer I will be able to work in loads of different schools and nurseries ! :D

That's all I can think of at the moment. If anyone else is going to my camp or flying out on the 17th let me know ! :)

Five Weeks 2 go :)

Today I thought I would make a start writing blogs, to record my feelings, thoughts and experience with Camp America. Hopefully these records will remind me why I went for this in the first place, plus I told my nan that I would keep these messages updated while at camp, so that could read what I was up to.

As you can probably guess, I have got five weeks until I fly out to my camp which is in the mountains of New York. I'm very excited but at the same time I really want to do well and make some kind of impact on these campers lives. I finished my exams about a week ago now and I'm spending most of my time reading through all the things I have to read before I go and also trying to loose some weight. I really want to do well, as I can't think of anything better to do over the summer. It's the first time that I have been to camp for a while and I'm a bit nervous but at the same time I can't wait to get out there.

Yesterday, my nan and I went shopping to get loads of things for camp, which included the biggest bag I have ever brought, a water bottle, and mostly clothing. Not sure what else to write at this point but I will get back asap.

First of May today which means next month I will be flying to AMERICA

My family are trying not to think about it, bless them <3 I'm going to miss my friends & family so much it's unreal but I know this experience is going to be amazing.
I've been trying to get used to Skype and Facetime on my iPod so I can communicate with people back home, my mam gets way to overexcited about the fact she can see me on her iPod...

Thought I'd post a picture of my (messy) holdall with practically everything stuffed into it. I'm going to go through it in a couple of weeks and probably take half of the stuff out and put other stuff in.

And that's it for now ! Hope you's have enjoyed the Easter holidays, I know I enjoyed most of it apart from the doing of assignments which I've left 'till last minute ! Woops.

EXCITED !

I AM SO EXCITED FOR CAMP !

I've been talking to loads of people from my camp and arranging travel details etc. and I can't wait !
53 days

I've also been doing loads of shopping these holidays for camp. Got myself a holdall for £12 and it's massive ! My director also emailed me a packing list and I think I now have everything. At the moment, everything is crammed into my holdall but a couple of weeks before I go I'm going to put everything lovely and neatly into it.. which will then probably be moved around two or three more times then hastily stuffed in again a day before I leave.
I've also been organising all my paperwork for camp and for the flights. I still need to photocopy a load of stuff and mail of my health form but college work keeps getting in the way !
I'm not even going to think about college work actually. I have so much to do and it hurts my head

I don't know if I've mentioned my travel details to get down to Heathrow yet but my mam has booked train tickets for her, my dad and my brother to go down to Kings Cross the day before and stop in a travel lodge then they're going to see me off. If your there on the 17th June, I'll be the one trying to get away from my sobbing parents...
After I've left they're going to have a little mini holiday and do everything my brother wants to do as it is his birthday on the 15th.

Not much else has been happening really. I've had a lovely Easter with the family and hope everyone else has too.

If you want to chat just mail me on facebook or something.

EVENTUALLY. I have paid of all my payments for Camp America. Although it still doesn't seem real I'm going.

I've also mailed over all my paperwork (minus health form, that's getting sorted next week) and I've also been doing some shopping for camp !
I bought a gorgeous holdall that is massive and will fit everything I need. It's a bit of pain to carry around but it was only £12 ! Can't say no to that.

My family have also decided that they're going down to London with me in June the day before my flight so were getting the train down and stopping in a travel lodge then once they've seen me off they're going to have another day exploring London. Can't believe how supportive they've been, I'm so lucky.

Not much else has happened really. Been doing a lot of college work and getting stressed at that but it should all work out.

That's all for now I think. Add me if you's like, I'm always up for a chat about America, gets me way over-excited though ;)

Happy Birthday To Meee ! :)

I have eventually turned 18 ... and I don't feel any different !

I've had a lovely day so far, just got five minutes to myself and thought I'd post a blog since I haven't done one in a while.

I've got so many lovely presents and loads of money of my friends & family, they're all lush and I love them ! Can't wait to spend my money on camp stuff over the weekend ;)

Today I also did a little talk with the first years on my course about Camp America, a lot of them seemed really keen which is good, this programme is going to allow me to get so many more jobs.

I don't really know what else to write at the moment ! Add me on facebook if you's want

Return flights

So today I got the option to choose my return flights back from America and after much thought I decided the DIY from the North Eastern airports is the best for me as my camp is in Massachusetts and I don't fancy travelling from there to NY by myself and then staying over for a couple of nights before my flight back as I am not travelling.

I also found out recentlly that my dad is going to be going to Portugal a couple of weeks after I get back for 8 weeks ! I'm so happy for him because he's going to have an amazing experience but I'm gutted I won't see him for ages! This must be how my parents are feeling about me going away.

Not much else has been happening in terms of Camp America. I've been pretty busy with college work lately and getting all my hours in placement in preparation of leaving college early though ;D

I got my passport, visa documents and CA T-shirt in the post today ! Was so weird seeing in my passport that I have a visa ! There's no backing out now, America had better watch out ;)

My college have also asked me to deliver some talks to the first years on my course about Camp America so that should be fun, I think this programme is just so awesome.

Roll on the 17th June !

Yayyy, I logged onto my Camp America Direct page to see all my flight details :) I will be checking into Heathrow at 12:05 and getting a Virgin Atlantic plane to Boston on the 17th June ! :)

So excited to be spending my summer in America :) Will be perfect although I will miss my family and friends so much :(

I've also been spending lots of money on clothes and stuff for camp. Got myself a sleeping bag and even bought my first pair of jogger bottoms ;) Haha.

I've had to work pretty hard this week catching up on college work so that's basically took over my life at the moment but the thought of the summer is keeping me going ! :)

Visa Granted ! :)

So I've just got back to Newcastle after having spent a night in London, loved it down there even with the confusion of tubes and trying to find my hotel.

For those who are worried about your Visa appointment; Don't be! It's so simple as long as if you have all your documents sorted for the day. Basically what happens is Camp America staff go through your forms before you go in and then you wait in a line for your security check. After that you go into the embassy and get a number given to you. You wait for your number to be called and you go to the right booth and get some fingerprints taken and your paperwork took off you as well as your passport. You then go back to sitting, wait for your number to be called again and then go for your "interview" where they just ask basic questions about you (e.g have you been to America before). You then hand your courier form into the desk and your good to go! I talked to quite a few people and no one seemed to have any problems on the day.

Loved London so much though. Went to Harrods for the very first time and spent ages looking at handbags and shoes <3 Also went to Hyde park which was pretty :)

Ahhh my god I love this bit of news I just got !

Found out my blog is featured on the Participants Zone homepage ! I love it and think it's awesome that people actually read this !

In other news, I've got all my travel arrangements booked for my embassy appointment, I'm heading down there on the Monday and stopping in a travel lodge and maybe doing a bit of shopping. Then on the Tuesday I will get my Visa sorted and head back up to geordie land ! :)

I must've read my camps website and staff guide so many times, I can't wait ! This summer will be a life changing experience for me.

Visa

So, got my Visa appointment ! 8th March, 11:00

My dad has very kindly offered to pay for me to get there if he comes with me ;) Unfortunatlly the cheapest way to do this is by travelling down in coach...which will take 7 hours...

It's worth it though !
These Visa forms are literally killing me though, I've given up until tomorrow so I can have a fresh start and know exactly what to bring with me.

If anyone else has the same appointment slot let me know ;) Might see you there !
