Hi all,

As I said a couple of days ago i got placed at camp wakonda for summer and the next day I did actually get some more information about it! The camp director, connie, called me this evening just to speak to me, i guess it was kind of an interview just to ask me about some stuff on my application form and told me a bit about what I would be doing at the camp and how it runs and stuff. Makes it all seem very exciting, although it is still a looooong way off!

If anyone cares, we qualified from our water polo tournament at the weekend, I finished my essay and got it in on time (!) and i have now siphened my beer into its keg where it will stay for a couple of weeks before drinking times commence...

thats all for now

mike

Crazy!! I just signed onto CAD and it said youve been placed... Wasn't expecting it at all, i assumed there would be some sort of correspondance from the camp, maybe an email or something or maybe an email from camp america but apparently not! It's all very mysterious about what i'll actually be doing aswell so we'll see...

Let me know if anyone else is at Camp Wakonda!!

Thought I'd add another entry instead of finishing my essay (nearly there - 1750/2000!!) and tell anyone who is reading a bit about whats going on in my life!

Unfortunately tomorrow I cannot attend the london recruitment fair because of a uni water polo tournament... its the first round tounament of BUCS against birmingham, uwic and bristol i believe. We came 2nd in this last year so we have high hopes for this year! So as a result my application which has been circulating a few days is going to be left to the camp america gods. However I did get an email from a camp in new jersey saying that they were interested in hiring me but i need to do an american red cross course (my NPLQ is not valid) but it clashed with my end of year exams which are in april.

Another exciting thing is that I am currently brewing my first ever batch of homebrew beer! I have 40 pints fermenting about 6ft to my left which should be ready in a couple of weeks... just in time for my birthday.

Good luck to everyone going to london

PS if anyone has any nuggets of wisdom on 'What actions can be taken by doctor and patient during and after surgery to ensure prompt and uncomplicated healing of a laparotomy wound?' I would very much appreciate them!!

Hi, thought I'd take the opportunity to introduce myself and try my hand at this blogging business instead of writing this essay I'm supposed to be doing.

Anyway, I'm Mike, im a 2nd year medical student at Cardiff university where I also swim and play a lot of water polo. This will be my first camp and I am quite excited now that my application has finally been sent off to the powers that be...now just time for the waiting game.

Thats enough from me, back to the essay...
