The Coundown is officially on!

Hey Guys  

ok not wrote on here in about 2 months, since I got placed!

Been really busy with college work, especially now that I have to hand everything in a month before everyone else! I actually had left then was persuaded to go back. In fairness I needed the loan as well so suppose its best that I stayed!

So its 65 days till I go!! Got the flight details in thismornin!

Give me a shout if anyone is on these flights, even if your going to a different camp! need someone to be excited with on the plane lol x

Well my visa appointment is next Wednesday in Belfast.  absolutely everything else C.A wise is done, has been for a while tbh. just need to look into insurance and I should be sorted!

Going to get down my case and duffel bag tonight and see how much fits, where to put the sleepin bag, what kind of stuff I can salvage out of my holiday collection, so I know what I need to buy!!

On a more camp related note, I've started back swimming, trying my best not to make a fool of myself when I get there by being the worst swimmer! Also started up with a personal trainer! Who is a bit tough but amazing! Hopefully he can kick my butt into shape in time! Wanto be at my best when i'm there

Hey!!

Well I got placed today at the Edinburgh Recruitment fair!! Woohooo lol

Was really weird how it came about, I had spoken with a few camps but they were lookin for guys or specialists, or had no positions which I could do...

So My friend Andy text me n said to go say Hi to Amy over at Round Lake Camp, so I did and we were just having a chat in general, wasnt looking for a position, and they had an opening for nature/small animal care, and I was like, Oh I used to work in a pet shop I can do the small animal thing so we were talking about that for a bit n she said there'd be a cow, goat, guiney pigs, rabits n all sorts etc n I was like yeah ok lol so not fussed right now..

Then Sheira said I'd be good for their office, and I was a bit  so I asked if thats all I'd be doin then she just said " Dyi know what, can yi swim?" n I said "em Yeah?.." So she offered me a position as lifeguard!

Was so surprised/confused/couldnt stop laughing but I was like well why not? So that's what I'll be doin for the summer! And just as I was filling out the form a guy sat down next to me n got the same job!

Then met him in processing, his names Martin, looks like we'll be flying out together and doing the same extra training at Ceder Lake before the regular staff orientation!! Which I'm soo happy about cause he seems like a really nice guy and It means I have a travel buddy lol But he has been warned if I drown he'll need to save me! which is very likely  lol

So I phoned Andy and told him the good news, and he was just like " I cannot beleive your goin to my camp!!" Sadly he can't go this year so I'm fillin his space lol x

Btw Anyone else goin there, How funny is Shiera!!! She's mad lol Cannot wait till june!! But need to seriously get my behind in gear and make sure all my college work is done and handed in sometime mid may so I have time to get it checked etc...

Also need to say to my boss now I have dates! She very kindly offered to keep my job for me but It's now goin to be longer than I'd expected and I dont think she'll be able to do it, if not I'll completely understand!

Confused is an understatement!

Ok so like many of you I got the tab for my visa stuff on CAD! And I have no clue what to do lol I know its reasonably well explained but the simpler something is the harder it is for me to understand, I'm a tad backwards!

It says.... Please contact us urgently if you have not received visa papers from Camp America within 2 weeks of the 'Visa forms printed date' - see bottom of screen. So my date is the 2nd of Dec 08 - which is...7 weeks ago? ish.

So I should have recieved visa papers in the mail? Well I gave them a quick email just to check.

Cost

Do you have to make another payment for your visa? If so I'll be sooo gutted cause I thought I'd paid off everything!!:p

So... I need to..

• Print off the 3 forms, support letter and guarenteed status letter.
• Fill in whatever forms I get through the post
• Go on the embassy website and book my appointment/make the payment

Is that it in a nutshell? any comments/tips are welcome lol

Ahar me Hearties!

So I was at a 4 year olds Pirate theme birthday party today, was so much fun Hadnt seen Jake, birthday boy, Since like september maybe? cause he stays in the Ayrshire countryside somewhere, and I only get to see him when I stay with my dad, in irvine, and everyones free.

So 25 3-5 year olds, screamin n laughin n amazingly not injuring themselves on a bouncy castle for two hours was exhausting, but good fun! Just glad that the campers will be a bit older! But omg did he get some amount of cars! and Cars Disney related stuff, the odd spidey thing thrown in. So went back to Susanne and Jims for a bit, and to see him tear apart the presents, when the thunder and lightning started! And the power cut out! And this is literally in the country with a few fields for neighbours so it was absolutely pitch black!

Watchin the last episode of the last series of skins, and Sid has just got to NY!! OMG cannot wait lol its makin me even more excited/impatient lol Decided to start making a note of places/things i want to see/do while I'm stateside, i hadnt really thought much about it before now. So far we have...

NYC

Walk about central park - possibly just spend a day walkin/takin subways

Empire state building

Statue of Liberty

Shopping! - Macys etc

See a show

Virginia Beach

Atlanta  - Gorgia in general

North/South Carolina - Charleston

Louisianna - New orleans

Florida - Orlando/Tampa/Miami.

Obviously everything depends on funds, how long i have to travel etc so I think I'll stick to the east coast, so theres more time in each place then back to NY. But these are the places I'd really love to visit, this time round anyway. Definately still want to see the rest of the country.

Since the lists went up I've had a look at the camps that'll be at the Edinburgh Fair, seen a few I really like the look of, so sometime this week I'm goin to do my homework and properly look at their websites and pick up on things i'd like to ask etc etc, and I'll need to look out the stuff I took to the interview as i have no idea where it is!:p probably in a drawer somewhere.

Going to watch the rest of Ray, then go to bed. Want to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for my driving lesson, as I am determined to pass this time round! only a few weeks left, need to fine tune all the bad habits etc.

Honestly, I'm tryin my best not to moan......

But, come on, Its been like 3 months lol I had my interview on the 3rd of october, had kinda hoped I'd be placed by now:(

I'm soo confused about what to do. I was goin to email a few camps, then thought no just better wait it out, and the fair is in a few weeks, but we're the last one so what if there's no jobs left? then i need to start emailing anyway?

I had seen one i really liked and started to read their staff application bit when it got to, no tattoos. so thats me gubbed for them. I have 2, one on my back n one on my neck. The back on is rather big but you literally only see it if i'm wearing a bikini, and I'll be wearing a swimming costume at camp. So it's just the neck one, but its small and you only see i if my hair's up. I dont know what the general rule is for camps are they ok with them or a big no no?

I had been doin well, not checkin my CAD every ten minutes but I've went back to obsessing again. I just really want to know where I'm goin so I can start planning travelling n stuff.

Ok rant over sorry guys.

Goin to head to bed and watch a dvd, yes on a saturday and yes before 11pm. Sad. I know. This is my best attempt at saving.

Got my med form done today, had another appointment, with my normal doctor, and just kinda slid it on his desk like so... could you fill this in:-" Was good cause it was a late appointment and he didnt have anyone after me so he got my records, was weird hearing random things like booster 1994, tonsils out 2003 lol so just need to send that off then I shouldnt have anything left to do.... apart from gettin placed!

Finally something is happenin!

Hey Guys

Aout 10 mins ago I was gonna blog and complain that I still hadnt heard anythin back about my Disclosure Scotland form and that nothing had happened with my application... But As i was contemplating that Scott from C.A phoned to say they got my form back, good times, but that the payment hadnt gone through for it, bad times. so gave him my card details and as long as it doesnt come out before friday we're all gd  He did say it would take about a week tho so should be fine!

God does work in mysterious ways! I've been really ill all weekend, and when I phoned in work my boss was all huffy that I wouldnt be in but I've not had a day off in the 7 months I've worked there, and I usually cover everybody elses shifts when she needs me etc so hmpf! Can't help bein ill. Got antibiotics from the doc today, they're like horse tablets but if they'll help I dnt mind. Goin to do it properly this time i never ever finish a course of antibiotics and usually go out at the weekend if i'm on them but i wont lol I'll be good. Helps that i'm skint too and can't afford to go out anyway! But yeah a bit of C.A news always makes a bad day better So just goin to do some college work tonight, shower, early to bed and college in the mornin cause I really have to go to college, missed a few weeks in december so I can't kick the butt out of it just in case!

Also got my drivin test booked for feb! 3rd time lucky n what have yi, I've had to start with a new instructor cause mine stopped driving, which was a bit of a surprise! Had a lesson on Saturday mornin n it was so weird, new person new car etc... But i really freaked out cause I couldnt reverse  round a corner! ended up in tears, dnt ask how or why, but she suggested I get Beta Blockers to see if they'd help, which is what the last test instructer said so got them from the doc too. So weird I love driving but I dont do well with someone testin me, same reason how I failed all my Highers! even tho I was gettin As/Bs in the classes? ah well...

Ok better stop now before this turns into a novel!! Hopefully if thats my form back i should maybe get an offer in soon from somewhere would be good!

If anybody has used beta blockers before message me cause i dont actually know what they're supposed to do lol

Merry Chritstmas!

Oh dear!

I'm watchin the xfactor from last night, and its at the bit where all the bad auditionees are singin. There are no words. Other than that it's been amazin. Really liked JLS, would have been good if they'd won, But still, Alexandra definately deserved it.

Missed it last night because I was at my work night out. Still recovering. And I have a bit of a lump on my forehead from fallin, and bangin ma head on the way in, to the taxi.  There were only 8 of us, 1 went home early and the 2 bosses bein the sensible women that they are sipped on their wine and smirnoff ices. While the 5 under 25's knocked back the shots, tequila on my part. Sayin that we did manage to persuade them  to an apple sourz and an Aftershock! which was funny! Needless to say I got up at 6am lookin like a panda, got a bit carried away with the eyeliner last night, and feelin like i'd licked the sahara, So stumbled to the kitchen n filled 2 big water bottles and a box of anadin and crawled back into bed, not to emerge till half 2! and too right, don't go out that often so may as well make an event of it lol

Just had a massive dinner, it being the first food i've had today, mum made Jambalaya, sooo good! Dunno what to do tonight, probs just sit about, possibly do some college work, watch a dvd? Wall.E sounds good, such a good wee film!!

Oh well I think that's enough of a commentary on the past 24 hours. I'll wait till I have some actual Camp america news till I do another post x x

Well that makes sense....

Got a phone call at work from Scott from the c.a office to say that my passport details still weren't on my Disclosure Scotland form and he'd emailed me, so just had to email him back with the details. ok np, Checked my email n emailed him back but noticed it also said... "untill this is done your application cannot be processed." So although i'm guarenteed status my application was being withheld, which means no camps have seen it, which means i'm not unwanted lol. Was starting to get a bit paranoid that people were gettin placed in like a week after bein on ready to be placed, I've been ready for 3/4 weeks. guaranteed for 2. wish they could have told me a bit earlier tho!!

So hopefully if that goes through this week should only be a few weeks till i hear from someone. Fresh hope lol

In other news, got the flu:( feel like crap. Got the whole weekend off, but its our work night out tomorrow so just goin to stay wrapped up in bed tonight, watch some tv n take loads of lemsips etc x x

Thought I'd better make another entry, rather than just sittin back and readin everone elses! So my page has been kinda dead lately... the only thing that had changed a few weeks ago was my payment page and medical form, much fun.

Had to email the payments guy again lol he must love me, just realised i couldnt afford £343 all in one go this close to christmas so i've paid half n can pay half next month, good times! Still not heard anything from any camps, bad times:(

I was wonderin before if you had to have everything completed before you'd get a placement but loads have people have been placed before they've paid n such so that kinda killed that idea lol

But something that may make more sense, do they hire the specialist councellors first then go for the general? or am I just so impatient I'm tryin to excuse the fact I havent had an offer!:p Comments would be gd, feel a wee bit mad here lol

On a lighter note... Seen Kings of Leon on sunday night in the SECC!! They were amazin! soo good live! and even better lookin lol Was such a good night, apart from a couple of **** holes standin next to us but what can yi do!

Really should get back to doin some college work, instead of faffin about on this...

Accidental Hero

Hey guys!

Well today like any other started out rather slow, only difference to my page was that i needed to make a payment and get the medical form done. Never really thought much about it, just oh great more money lol I couldnt remember how long you had o make the payments so I emailed them, and the very nice gentleman emailed back saying...

"its supposed to be 30 days but since you've got guaranteed status so early on bla da bla da bla"

So I was like hold up?!

Guarenteed status?

Went back + checked my page and there it was!

"congratulations"

I was sooo happy! I had been havin a rather bad day n it just made it sooo much better! Just need to wait on a placement now! And i'm not too worried about how quick that'll happen 'cause my mate done it last year n applied in January n got placed in March. so it's all good. If I havent got a place by January I'm goin to go to the C.A fair in Edinburgh n speak to some of the directors.

I know its a pain when everyone is sayin "just wait it out it'll happen soon", and really your checkin your page 10 times a day, or is that just me?!, and nothins happenin. But be patient it really will God works in mysterious ways lol

Is anyone flyin from glasgow? Cause i've seen alot goin from london but not so many from glasvegas. Get in touch if you are:d would be good to talk to someone x
