"The test of an adventure is that when you're in the middle of it, you say to yourself "Oh now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home. And the sign that something's wrong with you is when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventure."  - Thornton Wilder.

Long time no blog. Revision yada yada. But anyway! I cannot wait for my adventure to America! Only a month left untill i head off to the big smoke! From what i've heard this pretty much sums up camp. It's inevitable that there will be hard times but that the good times always outweigh the bad.

The solitude of study-leave is really getting to me haha. I'm definitely beginning to feel a bit of loco setting in. Exams are in full swing. Hating every last minute of it. However, these will be my last EVER set of exams set in my school life! Light at the end of the very long tunnel. The 17th June cannot come quick enough! I will literally have one day to get everything sorted for camp at the end of these HORRIBLE exammers..... most likely be the least prepared counsellor to hit stateside.

TILL NEXT TIME... X

This vid is rather humerous! However it makes me so jealous of all the people who actually are taking a Gap Year. The problem with me taking one is that....well....I'd never go back to doing any work. ha. So Camp America is my mini Gap Year before i dive into the joys of student life!

So i had my visa "interview" today..... TOTAL fret about nothing! The "interview" consists of : "Why are you coming to America?" "Eh..Camp America". "RIGHTO, your passpost and visa will be with you in the next three days". Cushty, eh?

Word on the street is that us Belfastians don't get a t-shirt?!?! Camp America.....what are you like? ha. Anyone know how to rectify this drastic dilema?! . By the time i actually get around to flying to the big old US of A i'm going to be a walking advertisement! I've aquired a hoodie....and soon, hopefully a tshirt aswell. Can i hear you say KEENO? Yeah, thought so. I blame it on my Newbie status...

TOODLES x

Long time no speak! Busy times have been upon us...what with the COPIOUS amounts of visa forms to fill out! Along with St. Patricks Day shenanigans. Woe is me, eh? So yeah, Visa interview on Tuesday. Not going to lie, I'm a little nervous. The American officials at customs always seem to put the fear of God in me...HA! I'm sure it will be fine, at least it means that I'm one step closer to camp. The participants section of the Camp America website seems to occupy every single minute of my spare time. I find it's a fantactic method of procrastination! =P.

After many weeks of waiting...i finally found someone from the UK going to my camp. I was totes worried that I was going to be the only international! Cannot wait for the 17th June to roll around, so as i can embark on the summer of a lifetime (Y)! YAH?!

"You stay classy San Diego..."

PEACE. x

I'm moving to New York [state]

GOOD MORNING AMERICA!

Popped over to LANDAN at the weekend to see if i could sort myself out with a placement as i couldn't deal with all the waiting around! After a good few hours standing in the freeeeeezing cold outside Kensington Town Hall, i managed to work my charm and got snapped up by Forest Lake Camp in New York State. Cannot tell you how excited i am. I finally have my summer of a life time sorted out. Now i can relax, and maybe settle into a bit of revo for my exams.....

However, telling the world about Camp America seems like a much better plan! Need to get my visa sorted now and flights etc. In the words of Edward Cullen, Camp America, "YOU ARE MY LIFE NOW!" ha.

Over and out! [for now]

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing...

11:50 PM , 2-Dec-2009 .. 0 comments .. Link

Currently, my life consists of checking UCAS track for uni offers and more importantly my Camp America page for the glorious "YOU'VE BEEN PLACED"....still hasn't happened. As i'm sure you've guessed it's doing wonders for my schoolwork!

I cannot think of a better way to spend the summer. Even though it's such a long time away and i have many bridges to cross before i get there, it is something that puts a smile on my face any time i think about it. Newbies are beginning to be placed so i'm feeling the fear. I'd be GUTTED if i don't get to go, but sure it's early enough yet! So, for now i'm going to be "sitting, waiting, wishing" for a placement as Jack Johnson said! X
