day 15

Posted on 9-Jul-2012 | 0 comments | Link Well today I had my first coaching clinic with the kids and it seemed to go down super well, the children seemed to really enjoy it and they where throwing out ideas about videos and stuff that they wanted to do. We split into groups and had girls and boys and we have decided on a girl version of 1D. so this is going to be filmed over the next day or so and we are going to do a another one witch is the camp pacific demonstration where we show people what you can do at camp. I am already having more children joying and there tattooing on there arm CPTV, I also held a radio class today and edited it in my spare time, I personally think it sounds really good. But they where too many people from russa saying that is where they where from, but it was funny and made the piece awesome, there toally awaesome guys. n it.

day 14

Posted on 8-Jul-2012 | 0 comments | Link Well today was a epic day, I have been so excited for this day since I heard about it and it was because we where having a carnival on campus, we had a the Velcro wall, sumo wrestling, photo booth, candy cotton, awww anything and everything we had. It was a great day and I loved every minute of it, especially dunk a councillor, its where you throw a ball at this thing and who ever is sat on the plank falls in if you hit the target, I only managed to get it once, and it was one of the kids that went in, but it was hilarious they all played super well and it was a great experience, I want to do another one now. So I still have the pizza left and keep eating away at it. And this evening we did some bracelets and I have managed to sus how to make them now, without as many errors so this is good, but I really fancied a coffee but I am not allowed off site so one of the lovely staff members said he would go and get me one from the shops. He is lovely!

day 13

Posted on 7-Jul-2012 | 0 comments | Link Well today was the day off for me and half of the other counsellors, so we went down to pacific beach for the day, and went on the beach, and chilled for several hours to top up our suntan, we had lunch at Denny’s as well, I did not feel like eating though as I had a big bag of crisp moments before, I think I really need to watch this belly of mine, as all I can see at moment is it getting bigger, I think ill be on salad the rest of this week. It was a nice day come the afternoon so that is always good. We went to a café for a drink as well and we where chatting away to some locals and playing pool. And on the train on the way home we where talking to some more locals. I decided to have a early night ish, and not do the all night partying as we have the kids to look after tomorrow and there are not many of us. I went to my boss about 11pm and he handed me 4 boxes of huge pizza not touched and said the they ordered 40 boxes more than they should have , oops, so I went and handed them out to a few staff members. And kept one or two for myself, I told you my belly is going to get bigger.

day 12

Posted on 6-Jul-2012 | 0 comments | Link Well now all the kids are in and settled on campus, we decided to do our pitches to them in the afternoon, this is where they will sign up for a activtie in witch they want to do for a full week, I am casting Radio Academy and CPTV, I am I nhope either of them go ahead, and I have got a few cool things sorted for it, we have now performed them to the groups and they went really well they where funny and the children seemed to enjoy them just as much as we enjoyed doing them, this is always good to see.

day 11

Posted on 5-Jul-2012 | 0 comments | Link This was a big day as this was the main day that the camp pacific children came, so I was roaming around and helping out where I was needed mainly reassuring parents that the kids will safe and that I would take good care of them, it was a chance for the kids to meet us the counsellors as well and ask any questions in witch they needed to. I really enjoyed this, but the cookies next to me got irritating and I think I could have ended up in a sugar comma if I carried on the way I was.

day 10

Posted on 4-Jul-2012 | 0 comments | Link Today was EPIC. It was the 4th July, as you are all aware I believe, and we have been making posters and banners all week for this day, so I was just in hope that the kids would really enjoy it and have a great time. We did a bit of dressing up like me and Adam, I went as where’s wally. But I did not do a good job a hiding that well, but ah well :D.

Day 9

Posted on 3-Jul-2012 | 0 comments | Link This was a big day as well for a lot of people as we had the academic children come, they come here because they are either mega brainy and want to learn more in the summer… I know what the hell right, or you get the ones that are following behind for what ever reason this may be and there here to do the credits and get the extra skills. In the evenings though we would look after them and take them dinner and everything, but today is the first time we are meeting them and so far they seem rather cool and a great bunch to get to know.

Day 8

Posted on 2-Jul-2012 | 0 comments | Link Well today was a pretty much chilled training day as it is going to be one of the last ones in witch we would have, I did a aqua tone session with the councillors to test this out and to see what they all thought about it. It was going ok minus a few issues such as music and ipod braking on me, but over all it was it a good experience. I had the energy there to do the session and it was fun we played games in the water as well witch was fun to watch and just to have them dancing in water to music was a picture doing star jumps.

Day 5

Posted on 29-Jun-2012 | 0 comments | Link Today we where doing surfing in the morning and I don’t think a few people really fancied it, and because I am on crutches I can not surf that well as it really hurts so I decided to take a few Pictures of the team surfing. After I did a few I went to my room out of the sun and wrote up a plan for a week, witch was based on radio. So I did this and emailed it over to Erica. Hopefully the kids will choose my idea. As I have not set up my American bank yet, I had to take a trip down to Bank of America in my spare time and I wont lie I can some it up in one word – stressful. They loved my accent and would go on about it and then they say something and it confuses me. I was like whaaaat. I don’t know if this has anything to do with No hot breakfast! But I am trying to get healthy so I show a good example to the children. At dinner time I decided to throw a hot drink on myself, in witch I would not recommend, lucky with my aim it only gotm y hand, it went very red and it hurts, but I put some gel on it and so far it seems to be ok, ,y leg is still badly burned through from the other day Tonight was one of the best nights, we did Lots of fun art stuff, like build your own country and we split into small groups and all came up with a name, logo, flag, ext and we had 1hour to do this, I did costume design and face paint, I really had fun and it was good that my creativity could come out as I don’t think I have had much of a option of that just yet. It was one amazing experience, and it is just awesome the way, the whole group came together and did this. It was awesome.

Day 4

Posted on 28-Jun-2012 | 0 comments | Link So today was yet again a early start, but I was apparently late, but I thought I was early, but ah well, and on our camp if we are late there is kangaroo punishment which means we maybe deemed guilty or inersent and someone stands upin front of everyone and says what they need to and everyone votes. Well me and 6 of my friends got guilty. Ooopsi… our punishment was to call everyone by there surnames, ahh that’s not as bad as yesterdays, though with Adam, he had to wear socks on his hands all day and then do a puppet show at dinner time for everyone. I went for my life scan today whilst the group went for there dinner and this was kinda irritating as I don’t think she really knew what she was doing as she kept placing my left hand on the pad that clearly said right and rolling it, the PC even said it is detecting the wrong hand. I was there like 1hour. It was kinda funny as well though. My driver Richard, very kindly took me to the local shop to get some sun cream as I did not know where the nearest one is to camp. In the evening we all went out for a bit and i met a few locals so I sat and talked to the locals and I met two lovely young men, one was a surfer and the other was a sailor in the marines and both had the same name. Hopefully we can all hang out some stage, witch will be awesome.

day 3

Posted on 27-Jun-2012 | 0 comments | Link Today is working out to be a chilled day, as we are playing games on the lawn like tag, and them games are cool. To watch and play, I remember then when I was a kid, I got not play in most of them due to them being running based so I just sat and walked taking pictures. We played a game called what to bring to the party. And I never understood what people where bringing and the reason why and I got very confused because I said a teddy bear, and Tina said no, but then on the next go tina said she is bringing her teddy. I was like whhhaattttt. I questioned it and her reply was because I can. – I was one of the last people to get it.. but Nick still did not clock on till the very end. We where meant to be having CPR training, and it all went really well at the start, and we where having lots of fun, but half way through the tutor took poorly. We had to phone 911 for a ambulance. It was scary as no one really knew what to do, we phoned through for help off everyone as well. In the evening we all went for a sunset surf and I tried two boards and was doing rather rubbish, in the end Rob leant me his in whitch I can manage and handle better and I had one of the girls also help me, and I surfed the waves on my belly, I ended up going far out and not realsing, and I hurt myself doing it on my own as my board turned and I had it the wrong way and went flying and it was a double wave and so I rolled and rolled but in the sand. OUCH. I came back and got showered and changed and went back down, as we where doing a camp fire with a sing a long. I am so happy as I get a extra 30mins lie in tomorrow.

Day 2

Posted on 26-Jun-2012 | 0 comments | Link Aas the kids are coming soon, we decided one of our activities should be to painted signs, so we all had different themes, and mine was Hollywood. So we got on the beach and rolled some long paper out for us to do this. I wrote the word Hollywood and Tina did the hills, and Laurence went and did some stars, we all then started painting and it looked really good. I went on Facebook for the first time too and checked my emails, lots of people are missing me and contacting me, it is rather cool. I had to go some coffee shop down the road, and i some how got lost too and walking in squares. it was rather funny though. i really enjoyed my drink i bought but the funny thing was i waited ages and me and the lads and girls where like where is your drink? and i went yeee, where is my blinking drink.... and this made everyone laugh... the lad said it was on the way and that he loved my accent..... i think i shall work on the accent to get a few american interests. sorry mum.... I wrote up my plans in what I want to teach the children whilst I am here and suggest other ideas. In the evening when we come together to talk about the day I was asked to give a reflection and this had to be something in which described myself so I edited a few songs together and did a little song, in which made lots of people cry. Or feel emotion.

Day 1

Posted on 25-Jun-2012 | 0 comments | Link I woke up at 6am and I could no go back to sleep, so I used this time to go for a shower and freshen up and sort some of my case out into piles of different things. Come 7:30am, we all went down to breakfast, there was a few different choices of things we could have, I had eggs, beans, sausage, and then a bit of salad, I had lime water for my drink too. We taken it easy and had a game of Volley Ball at the start of the day, in witch my team won, we then had another and the other one won. We went round the building to have a look at our new classrooms as well, so that was good as we can get use to where we need to go, we went to the library and typed out some table plans in what we are going to be doing on camp and wh we are teaching. I did a few plans and now I have to wait to show Erica. I went ot he beach for 2hours in witch the lovely Adam was teaching me how to surf, it was a great experience and it shown me how talented people are that can surf as it is not easy, I am on stage 3 though, so that is good I guess. Once showered and changed I went down for tea, but I stuck with a salad as I wanted to be healthy. This afternoon we had a session and watched a film so we could learn about personality and how there different and then went to session in the library to learn about other people and we and to come up with something that is about us, either quote we made or a famous and the same with a poem or song. They where all really good and inspiring and it is true how things we see and hear can make us who we are. When I got back to my room I typed all mine up. Well its really late now its about1 am, so I am best getting ready to go bed now as I am up at 7am. Yex.

The day i Fly

Posted on 24-Jun-2012 | 0 comments | Link What I have been waiting for. Well today is the day in which I have I been awaiting, it is the 24th June. The day in which can be a life changing experience for myself. I am going to California to teach lots of different things for my summer, It will be one amazing experience. So I went to bed last night at about 9pm-10pm, after I had a lovely pizza in which my mummy kindly bought me, it was not bad, but a bit heavy on the stomach before sleeping, I did not eat it all but I am sure my brother will finish it off. I can’t handle a ten inch yet. ;). I left my phone downstairs to charge last night and so that no one can wake me up, you know what students are like they text at any time, I should know I am one myself. The big day – My wake up call My mum woke me up at 8.05, and I had to leave the house by 8:30am yex, this means a quick shower and get dressed, in which surprisingly I did. I had a email on facebook from Erica, who is a lovely lady who is at the camp in which I am staying at, she was giving me my information about what to do once in the states. I made a note of all this as I know il need. I had forgotten to top up my American number as well, so I had to log onto a computer to do this, but me being me, and forgetting where I put things, I had forgot my password, so I had to have several attempts, I soon remembered it about 8:28am. Leaving mum and dad I finished off topping up my phone and then my mum and dad packed the car to take me to the airport, the question on everyone’s mind is, is my case going to be to heavy, the weight limit is 23kg. I presume it will be as I have packed well, but equipped. You know what mothers are like once they get into your suitcase. I think il fine my mum if I do. It will be £45, yex. Well anyway, we got the airport and I signed in and shown my mug shot passport and had the routine explained to me what is going to happen when I get to London as I am doing a spilt flight. And guess what Kirsty, I am afraid to tell you, that your baggage is over the weight limit, it is 24.9g, * Me o, I never realised, it is properly all my braces and tablets making it that, :/, So then, is this all the paper work I need on arrival (Swiftly changing subject) whilst she prints over weight and heavy on my luggage. Oops. As the bag was about to go through she said it would cost me £45 to have extra luggage but due to it only being a little bit she will let me off on this occasion. THANK YOU. I was happy and I think my parents where too. So now, its time for the hugs and byes to my Mum and Dad, I said bye to my brother yesterday before he went camping with his friends. Hugs and kisses where done and they waved me off. – I know this is hard for my mum and proberly my dad and brother too, but it is something that I need to do and gain experience, I know that she loves me and really worries about me, I have agreed to be tracked and tell them how I am as much as I can. I don’t want them worrying about me. Security Check I got wheeled through and sent to the scanner in which I had to stand up and look like I been shot with arms in the air. Meanwhile whilst I am having that my bag and crutch is going through. BEEP BEEP. – Nothing new when it comes to me. I got the all clear on the body scanner. So that is rather cool and then it was the bags! I got a right bollocking as I never took my laptop out of my bag, and the liquids. I was like waaa the guy just took it, :/ I gave the puppy eyes and he let me off, and I shown him my liquids are my medication and that was all cool. As all this is going on my flight is bording and I have 10mins to get to my gate. The rush – Manchester to London The guy was rushing me through and I was like I am sure I am forgetting something. Once at the plane about to board I asked him for my crutch, the reply I never wanted was what crutch I was like errr you know my blue stick in which I use to walk with, … he went silent, I looked behind to see him running, he reminded me of a penguin wobble wobble. – Just like my dad really. I was then panicking as it was 5mins before the doors shut and it was not to be found, I was asking the lady would it meet me in London form another flight. As the doors where about to shut my crutch arrived safe and sound. I think today is going to be a long day, if this has started, they say it comes in threes. The next thing I hear is we are being delayed on the runway due to winds in the sky and weather and we cant take off, so there was 30mins taxing. Once in the air it was rather bumpy, but I quiet enjoyed my honeycomb chocolate biscuits. They where lush. ☺ We where about 15miles off landing and the announcements where coming through again saying that the winds are too strong so we have to stay were we are, and take it very slow and this will take 30mins to descend. I think it was a good job I got a flight with a 4hour gap. In London Heathrow – Now what ? Cut a story short, I landed, and a lady met me who kindly wheeled me through Terminal 5 and into a waiting area, in which I stayed until called. I decided to Dear John on my laptop whilst I waited. I like that film, but it always makes me want to cry. I was having a few issues with my new back brace, so I had to readjust this too. About 1:45pm another lady came through saying Asthon to San Diego, That was me, it was to make me to my gate. The lady took me round on a mini bus thing, and I went through the back of the terminal, as it is safer. She drives like me so its best out the way. It was a long trek it taken about 15mins. Apparently its about a 40min walk from where is as to my gate. When I got there I went and got a sweet chilli butty and red bull form Boots, as I have not really had anything yet, and I was rather hungry, I decided to finish off watching dear John as well. Come 2:30pm they where boarding the plane, this is the bit I don’t like, as you look at everyone in the holding area, I am thinking who am I sat next too, is it him, is it her, o he is cute, o god not a screaming baby. This is the tension bit. On the plane London – San Diego I got cot head so I was rather pleased as this means leg room, I was apparently in upper-class but they messed my ticket up so I got moved, I am currently sat next to a young lady to my left, she is connecting to LA, and there is a gentleman next to her and his wife is in the middle of plane somewhere and to the right of me they are 3 men, 2 married and one single form Ireland – I found so much out in 10mins. Anyway, this is where all the fun then started. My worst nightmare. The pilot came on and explained we are delayed due to a plane needing to take off, but we will be going in 10mins, fewwww that’s not to bad, engines start, and we move, then we stop. WOW what’s going on, I don’t understand, we don’t move. The pilot comes on to inform us that the engine has broken and where stuck, a engineer will need to come and have a look, it could be a quick job or a long job, or even a change of plane. They will keep us informed but we have to wait for someone to pull the plane to a safe place. I sat board! I was texting a few people, mainly because I was board, sorry guys, love you. 1hour passed and still not heard anything, and my back was hurting due to my brace, it keeps blowing up at the back, and I don’t know why but It was hurting to wear so I had to take it off. We then get another announcements to say that they are going to test the engine and if it can run for 10mins without failing then we can set off after they done the paper work and got a new taxing flying off slot. He thinks it will take about 20mins ish.. the ish is the key word, when I use that it normally means about 1hour, - I will be there about errr 11ish.. We departing from London to San Diego at 17:35, it was meant to leave at 15:05. By the time I get to my camp after Jason and Nick pick me up I would have been awake for almost 24hours if not longer, this is mainly due to the time difference. This is because it is 8hours. The food was not to bad, they give me some wired said thing that looked strange, I never ate this as the appearance did not appeal. I order a chicken butter – What do you expect this to be? I expected Chicken, veg, with butter… I know am blonde naturally but come on, I opened it to find it was a chicken curry with rice – spicy.. :/ Surely he should of said a spicy chicken curry. If my mum had this she would have set the plane on fire as her tong would have been. The reflection As I sit on the plane and write this listening to my music it is a time to reflect and think about what I intend to bring to camp to help teach and inspire young people and give them a awesome summer and to be honest I am just super excited about meeting everyone at Camp, Erica said they will all be home about 9pm to great me and Erica is going to help me get settled and run through everything with me, she is one amazing lady. :D I think she will be my mum whilst I am out here. When I got off plane and into camp I 100% hated the flight and I was glad when I got off, I had a lovely young good looking man meet me called brain, he taken me through all the customs, in which I was there near enough a hour, I was getting drilled about anything and everything, I was worried they would not let me through, as he was calling other people over to speak to me, Well in the end I got through and collected my bags. I Met nick at terminal 2 outside and it was lovely too see him again, we phoned through for Jason to come and meet us, and again he is top block and good driver, I appreciate him coming out late picking me, when I was going to camp I was informed on the spoon game, which is you have to kill someone your told too with your spoon, but you can only fo it if they don’t have it in there hand, I did not know who I was until Jason tells me. Well I got to camp and I was met by the beautiful Erica, who explained a few things to me and she told me that staff members have one to bed now as it is really late, she walked me down to my room and typed the code in and when she opened the door I had the shock of my life. All the consolers where in my room and shouted surprise, they made a banner which said welcome to camp, and they all introduced themselves to me, after I got settled we all went over to another room where we was going to watch a movie, but instead all cuddled up and was talking. I got really tired so I did not last long and I went to bed. As I was meant to be up at 7am.
