Just wondering who's got their appointment a week today on the 3rd of May?

Mine's at 9:30am. Leave Glagow at 11pm night before on the bus (all i could afford haha7 and arrive about 7am then it's off back home 5pm-2:30am I'm gonna be a zombie haha. Anyone else got a long journey? Or even if anyone else coming from Glasgow on the megabus? Doubt it but you never know!

Been once before last time I went to camp (in 2008) and it all went very smoothly but I'm stessing like mad that something is gonna go wrong, particularly worried about proof of return as I'm just finishing uni, no job and I can't get a letter from parents Just planning on showing them my own return flights, a detailed letter from myself and also a short one from my boyfriend confirming our plans when I come back and proof he and I live together (joint council tax) to show I have relationship ties?

They didn't even open my proof of return envelope last time but I've heard they've gotten more strict!?

Yeah I'm a bit worried about the proof of return too! I'm finishing 6th form this year and no plans to go to uni, no job so no real evidence I want to come home. I've a part time job which is finishing before I leave but my boss said she'd write a letter saying I have a full-time job when I return (even though i probably won't have), just hoping that will be OK. xx

I'm sure a letter saying you'll have employment will be great as that's one of the recommended proofs and you can probably get a letter from your parents saying your coming back too? (unlike me, Argh!)

I had my embassy appointment a few weeks ago and was in the same position... Last year of uni with no job to come back to so all I took was a letter from student finance. They didn't even ask to see it, was literally in and out in 15 mins! The CA staff there told me that they rarely ask girls for proof of return anyway so don't worry too much!

ive got my embassy appointment on the 3rd of may at 11.30am, im going from penrith in cumbria on the train....and i thought that was a bit of a trek.

I have mine on the 3rd too but I haven't read anything about proof of return, where does it say this?

It says it on the directions for filling your online visa form out at the bottom. if you go on ca direct and then click visa, then
FIRST TIME APPLYING FOR J1 VISA AT US EMBASSY (APPLYING IN LONDON)
those are the directions...

i didnt get asked for my proof of return, just get your parents to write a note, my date wrote one for me but didnt need it anyways, dont worry about it

It's nice to know there will definitely be a few people coming on the day (and even the same time Abigail!) and who are also a tad nervous haha!

Rebecca I would get a parent letter but unfortunately as I said in my main post that's not an option open to me... Not sure what you meant by your "date"?

Yeh I have mine on the 3rd few days now ahhh. Im paranoid I dont have everything to take with me to the appointment does anyone know where I can find a check list?

You get the checklist delivered to you in the same pack as all the visa stuff.
