Hey so like the title says what is everyone taking in their hand luggage?

im currently making a list of all the things i need to have in there etc so far i have:

passport
visa forms,
all important documents i need.
money
caxton card
purse with english cards in etc
camera
sunglasses


whats everyone else taking?

Ipod, Kindle, maybe some magazines - some sucky sweets for take-off/landing. I'm also probably going to take paperwork my camp needs me to fill in on the plane. My hairbrush and glasses case. And a little thing of moisturiser/hand cream probably - the air on planes always dries my skin out

Maybe take a spare change of clothes/underwear incase you're separated from your bag longer than you thought you would be. It's never happened to me, but I imagine if you got delayed or your bag didn't turn up rightaway it'd be good to have!

Make sure you have details of your camp address etc as you'll need that on the plane to fill in your landing card.

yeah ive got my glasses case too! and camps address i know it off by heart from last summer! haha, yeah im guna take a spare change of clothes too! thanks!

all of the above, plus a few breakable gifts I have for people and a book to read for when im bored of the films

Happened to me first year I did camp. Luckily I had spare clothes and toothbrush etc in my hand luggage So definitely would suggest that! lol.

Also Camp address as the form you fill in when you check in and on the plane asks for the address of your first night in USA. And if you are delayed for whatever reason and the camp is picking you up, good idea to let them know. (again first year experience. lol.)

Also going to take ipod, book, sweets, (pop/soda - will unfortunately buy other side of security = ripoff), sunglasses, etc. all the normal stuff I take with me when I go abroad .. I have close to an 11hour flight so need things! lol.

Yeah - going to take more than usual this year to read etc as I'm flying United (entertainments not as good as Virgin) and I've not flown solo to the West coast before. I'm hoping maybe I can sleep on the plane - I'm not usually good at sleeping on the plane but this week's going to be soooo busy hopefully I'll be tired enough!

Yeah I was thinking of sleeping also but I also find it difficult unless I am exhausted. I have a four hour car journey when I get picked up also and with the time difference... omg going to be up so long..lol.

Yeah - I have to check in at half 7. I'm also kind of anticipating that I might stick around in SF and wait for the others to get in before going back to camp - via Target....looong day - especially as I'll be in SF in time for a late lunch lol.

im so glad my flight isnt as long as yours. but ill be up at 4 to fly from newcastle to heathrow.and then i have a 6 hour wait till my next flight takes off to newark :/ ill be up nearly 24 hours by the time i get to the ramada and watch the powerpoint get my details on how to get to camp.
aahhhh i will be loving the bed in the ramada!

I get there and go to camp via Walmart lol. But i'm the only one travelling that day I think unless the american ropes specialists are flying in also. i'll be the only one. lol. sucks.

wow your check in is early... mines at 10am so staying overnight at a hotel next to heathrow.

last time i fell asleep standing up waiting to go through the security bit were you get your finger prints done. waited an hour and a bit to get through it was awful especially after the flight , i cant wait for the hotel to sleep!!

I am taking most of the same stuff but as well as my medications such as my puffers and what I need with me all the time and my laptop which I am bringing with me.

Yeah - my flight's at 10.30. When I was looking at flights it was the cheapest that was also the most reasonable/sensible - all the really cheap ones were leaving at like 7 with layovers so they didn't get in til midnight in SF. Safe to say, I didn't fancy that - neither did my parents.

Luckily I only live about 40mins from Heathrow (maybe quicker that early) and my parents have worked it out so that they're heading off to Venice the same morning!

You'll have to fill in customs cards and stuff on the plane, every time i've been I've forgotten a pen and I've had to nag someone on the plane tp use theirs!
