im not taking any of my gear far too much to carry plus we'll be standing in the arena teaching not riding too much with the kids, plus if your camp does western riding they normally wear jeans anyways, and you can just wear your joggers :D

I'm not riding staff my camp does do horse riding. I would check with your camp about what you actually need to take. I think staff at my camp used camp helmets, and they mostly wore jeans (we have to wear long trousers in horse country). When there were just teaching and weren't actually riding they wore trainers, they wore boots if they were going on a trail ride. I could see that you may want to take your boots, but you might not need everything else.

I was on riding staff last year at Friendly Pines Camp in Arizona and myself and a girl from Wales were the only people that had jodphurs (Infact all the americans used to laugh at our funny tight pants) I think it really depends on your camp. I was in full on "cowboy country" and everyone rode in jeans. We took part in the 4th of July Parade through the closest town and out of probably a thousand people and I'd say about 500 or so horses I was the only person in joddies. In saying that if you find that you want to ride in jeans instead it's easy enough to buy a few pairs over there. They arn't very expensive...especially if you go to goodwill :) I took 4 pairs of jods to and because I was riding all day everyday they started to wear out really quickly so I would recommend taking about 5-6 pairs of pants you can ride in. I took my own helmet and riding boots but my camp did have helmets for people who didnt bring their own. Also, you can buy really nice boots for way way less in the states! Everything is sooooo much cheaper...such a shock when you get back home!
I hope this helps:) Camp is amazing...words can't even describe how great it is and horse staff are the best ;)

Im doing horse riding at a girl scout camp, think im bringing just like one pair of jodphurs then leggings, then my hat, jodphur boots and chaps cant fit much else in and a crop might look rather dodgy at customs
