Post Route 66
As I'm old enough (26) to rent a pretty sweet car, I'll be doing whats left of Route 66 driving from Chicago and driving through to LA and stopping off at many a cool place along the way.

Stopping off in LA for a few days, the rough plan is to then drive up Pacific coast highway to San Fransisco to enjoy some time there.

I finish camp on August 15th, so if anyone is planning on doing something similar or wants in, let me know!

Bye for now!

Hey! That sounds like the sort of thing I want to do... I've got 2-ish months after my camp (finishes Aug 14) to make my way across to LA by Oct 5... Are you planning to stop any where in particular?

I think Vegas is definately a must but not to blow a tonne of money, just for the "did that" thing, apart from that anywhere that looks cool. I have a lonely planet guide to the US so I'll be checking that out before I fly and while at camp :)

Yes of course! I've heard that Vegas and Boston are the two most under-estimated places. I'm not all that familiar with the Route 66 path but I'd love to stop over in Texas and somewhere southern, like Georgia, for a few days each... Plus Disneyland!

:D I'll be at camp, it's the last day of the kids camp, the the family camp starts a couple of days later, but I was talking to one of the Americans about it and she said they just have a massive party on the last night and it's amazing, so i'm hoping that it'll be even better cause there'll be a birthday in the house :D Soooo excited!! Although on my last birthday I did get to ride in a police car so I don't know hahaha.

Ha, not my fault..it's not as cool when I have to explain it.
My friend forced me into going to a gig I didn't wanna go to, my car broke down in the middle of the road when we got there, (the car clearly didn't wanna go either :D) and basically, she abandoned me and went home, that might explain why we barely ever talk anymore, and I was stuck for ages recovery wouldn't help me cause I was only covered for my car, not my mum's which I was driving, so called the police (had already been there for 4 hours) and 6 hours after the police hadn't turned up, phoned them again and they went to North Road..I was on North Street, (instead of using common sense and going to the other road/street with North in it they went back to the station) so they eventually came out, moved the car somehow, as the gearbox was seized and the car wasn't budging, and took me to a travelodge in the car, that was the best part of the day haha :D

(Sorry about the rambling ha)

That's a wicked story!! I don't think the coppers would care if we called them like that here... that's so nice of them! Hows your friend's form though, abandoning you... and on your birthday!

I know! Her excuse was she had to be back for work the next day, or they would give her a warning, but legally they wouldn't have been able to, if she was stuck with no way of getting home home, then they couldn't do anything about it.

I would definitely LOVE in on this little adventure. I'm thinking of flying from NYC to LA, but this sounds like a rather awesome way of doing it. The space shuttle sounds amazing as well but I think I'm going to have to leave on the 13th as I have uni on the 20th :( bummer! x
