Post Under 21?
As i'm sure many people will agree having a drink whilst on holiday is a very sociable / enjoyable thing to do? (along with chilling on the beach, grand canyon or woteva floats your boat)

But not having ID could get a tad annoying i think (i'm 19 atm) so can any 'camp returners' (or anyone in the know so to speak) give me an idea of the so called 'party scene' for under 21's please?

I know it obvisously happens in ever single state big time but i gota ask :)

I know some people may be like 'theres loads of things to do OTHER than drink bla bla' but once the sun sets its a good laugh (sometimes before it sets too) in my books!

if you are underage be careful coz if you get caught you could get sent home and that would mean you would b e unable to get another visa.

Basically....

It depends who you know and what kind of area your camp is in. My friend got a fake ID made for her within the first week of camp, one of the americans hooked her up so she was able to go into bars and clubs using this ID...although when she got to new york they snapped it up and she couldn't get in.

I would drink every weekend at some kind of house party. somebody will be over 21 and will buy you drink if your kind. But careful. Police have the right to come onto their property and do as they please.

I was 20 in my first year. I did drink, but only at people's houses. Even then I was scared. If you get caught there is a high chance that you will be asked to leave the country and it will be noted on your passport and you may not be allowed back into the states. It also may jeoprodise your job at camp. If they find out that you were drinking you could get fired. 2 19 year olds at my cmap got fired last year because our director saw photos of them drinking and generally being drunk, and because they weren't the legal age he called CA and they were gone by the morning.

Getting served in bars/restaurants....you will most deffinately need ID. Unless you look like a 30 year old they will ask for ID. so there's no chance there. That goes for buying alcohol too. But then there are little towns in america that live by their own rules too.

It's personal choice on whether you want to risk it. I recommend keeping a low profile with it and also, try and party AFTER camp. If you are reckless at all and have a strict camp director, they will not stand for it.

Also...tip...learn to love lager (or beer as they like to call it)...a...lot.

I've been lucky since last year I was 21 and could do whatever I wanted.

I felt sorry for the other guys who were under 21 and expected to get served...if you go to a club, you're under 21 and you're not a good looking woman, you'll either get turned away if its a 21 and up club or you wont get a wrist band.

Its the same for just ordering a beer at a restaurant or bar, your ID will get checked...cue a lot of people pretending to look in their wallets and saying 'oh, I must've forgot it' :)

You can obvioulsy drink in private if someone else gets the drink, but be careful if its a big house party or a frat party because they do get broken up by the police (its not just in the movies) and if you're one of the unlucky ones they catch, you'll end up getting kicked out of your camp...happened last year with one of the people at my camp...not smart enough to just jump in any random car and get out of there :)

I'd say just go out there expecting not to really drink...and if you do end up getting drunk a couple tmes its a bonus.

If the risk of getting sent home and not being allowed another visa is actually possible, why bother?

I was 19 my first year and managed to drink most night off without ID in rural areas as over 21s will happily buy for you. In New York trying to get into a club I flashed my driving license which gave my age as 19 and tried to act natural and they let me right through. But yeah, consider the risk factor first. Can you run faster than state troopers?
