Woop! It's nice to know there'll be someone else going to my camp on the same flight.

I did some research yesterday, trying to find out what time the flight is and which airline it is, but the thing with flying out to New York is that it can either be JFK airport or Newark, and we won't know until we get a propa flight code. If it's JFK we're flying at 10:05 with Delta and if it's Newark we're flying at 10:50 with Continental. I'm going to have to stay somewhere overnight tho, cos I can't get to Heathrow for that time of the morning!

I got my visa stuff in the post too, I did a little dance of excitement in fact lol has the visa section appeared on your CAD yet??

I've decided to email Jemma, who was one of the girls who interviewed me and ask how prepared I need to be, whether I need to decide lesson ideas or if someone else decides and I just teach what I'm told cos I'm confused lol :?

Oh and Modin use all the agencies, not just CA , they're profiled on the CCUSA page as well so there'll be others, just maybe not from CA :D

Wow you have done some research!!
How did you find all that stuff out about the flights? I'll have to stay the night beforehand too, I doubt I'll be able to get anybody to get me to the airport that early.

I may email something similar to someone at the camp. I don't remember the name of the second girl who called me, I'll just email one of the directors and ask them to pass it through to someone who can help maybe.

I'm so stupidly excited, I've been looking at other forum entries in the other categories, and people are taking laptops etc with them...crazy! I wouldn't even consider taking a laptop...are you guys taking many luxuries? I'm definitely gonna be stocking up on some good old british tea bags before I go, that's for sure...I've heard theirs are pretty weak, I work for starbucks and if the tea at camp's ANYTHING like the tea we use at 'bucks...it'll be awful.
I'll take my straighteners, for sure and some sweeties for the flight but other than that I haven't really thought about it...apart from my phone and ipod.

lol I know, it's a bit crazy! Someone on another forum had worked it out and put the link to Heathrow's page so you could check your own flights. lol can't believe how expensive airport hotels are tho  gonna have to start saving the pennies even harder methinks lol

I've seen those posts as well! No way I'd be taking a laptap, are these people crazy? lol I'll be taking a camera an ma ipod an loads of sweets for the kids an that's bout it! I'll probaly just borrow someone else's straightners if i need them, my hair's poker straigh to begin wth :) not taking a hairdryer out with me either, cos they don't work in the states, i'll probably just buy a cheap one from wallmart lol

I'm not too bothered about tea, or anything but I'm excited about cherry coke! lol I went on holiday to Florida last summer and I was excited that you could get cherry coke in all the retaurants and it's pretty much all I drank! Spent the whole fortnight on a sugar high! haha!

I want to go now I'm bored of waiting! lol

I'm getting kinda excited now, but uni work is keeping it all hidden away at the mo.
I think I'm going to take a box of Earl Grey as im a posh guy lol. Probably take some sweets as well, won't take any straighteners though.

Are the flights actually heading to New York? I thought some flights were heading closer to camps, like ours heading to Portland, Maine. Or am I just making this up?

Yeah it'll catch up with you tho! lol All I'm doing at the mo is working full time and I can't wait to get away which is why I'm so excited lol

Don't know about yours, my flight code is London-NY, just assumed we'd all be them same since we're going to the same camp :)

I did...I don't usually look at emails on my phone, I hate it, but I saw it was from CA and decided to read the whole thing...even after I noticed it wasn't that exciting.
I posted a topic in the "general" section on sleepwalking/talking and have got a fair few replies, so i'm feeling slightly special right now :)

I went for a peep and couldn't find anything to fill out yesterday, i'll have another gander now and see if it's up, if it is I'll give it a shot.
Hah, that could be hilarious...apparently people try to have conversations with me when i sleep-talk, does that ever happen to you? If we're both out of it, could make for some funny listening :)
Are you gonna let your campers know?

I emailed Jemma about the teaching thing and this is the reply I got:

There will be some teaching. We only teach photography during the afternoon, and this won't start until a week into camp. We have a program called free choice where the kids can select the activities they attend. There are 3 periods in an afternoon, each an hour long.
We run Digital Photography and Black & White Photography. However, the teaching is a small part of your role. Your main responsibility will be to take pictures of the children at various activities. These get uploaded daily to the website for the parents to see. You will have a camera with you most of the time, including the evenings.

We have an office where we are based/keep our equipment. There are 7 people working in our specialty. 3 Photographers, 3 Videographers plus myself.
By all means you can come with some projects prepared. But don;t worry about it too much, you will have time to discuss things with your team during pre-camp. I have a guidebook for the photography team that is handed out during pre-camp but it may be useful for you to have it before hand, so I will forward it to you via email.

So I guess one of the videographers is you, Emma?

Yep it is indeed, looks like we'll be seeing quite a bit of each other then! I got pretty much the same email back lol just found it! How exciting! The only thing I'm concerned about is that I'm going to miss out on things because I'll be behind a camera most of the time! lol

I heard that the best way to stop someone sleep talking is to talk to them and try and bring the conversation to an end, you shouldn't wake them up. Don't know if that's true tho. An I don't think I'll let the campers know, I'll just seee if it becomes an issue. I don't do it all the time, so I'm not too worried!

I just tried to fill in the visa form thingy, clicked on the link from the email they sent and it's properly confusing and it doesn't match up at the end, like there's a section missing on the presentation they gave us to help us fill it in :? Oh well, just gonna finish it and hope for the best lol

I started the form online but I haven't got an up-to-date passport photo, so I'm gonna need to go and get one done...killer, I hate going to those little booth things, they're always in really busy places and it's well embarassing.
Is there anything you think you're really gonna miss?

I don't know what I'll miss, I think I'll miss my friends first then missing my family will come later. I'm going to see loads of family up in Canada after camp, so they'll probably fill the void :)
I'm gonna brace myself and go get my photos done tomorrow after my lecture, I'll have to pop my hood up and go into the booth and hope nobody recognises me. FIVE BRITISH POUNDS?! I remember when it was £2.50...rediculous.
I can't see us having much time to chillax at all from the description of what we'll be doing.

Hope the photo taking went well! lol Five British Pounds indeed...daylight robbery those photo machines lol I look like a criminal on my visa forms...I'll be lucky if they let me into the country haha!

And I know, did something similar a couple of summers ago (well the filming side of things but it was a sort of olympic games for firemen so no kids lol) an i only did it for 3 weeks and i was exhausted...this is gonna be hard work! lol CAN'T WAIT THO!

I have also (finally) told my boss that I am going and he was lovely about it bless him, said he'd hold my job open for as long as I wanted :) He's ace! And then my boss's boss was in yesterday an said congratulations an gave me a hug!! Was awkward but strangely comforting haha!
