Post mobile phones at the embassy
I know that we're not supposed to take mobiles to the embassy, and that you're not allowed them in the building, but i'm meeting a friend after my appointment and she needs to be able to get hold of me. Ironically she's american and this is her first time in London so sure will be panicking if she gets lost!

Did anyone else take their phone with them? If so what happened? Would really appreciate some advice!

It's fine. You put it in a box outside with a rep and they give you a number (like in a cloakroom) then when you are done you go outside and get it back. Very simple.
They were so WAAAAAH about electricals in the emails but its so simple when you get there.
I sacrificed bringing my ipod and everything! 2 hours on train minus ipod...and couldn't fit a book in my bag *cry*

OH WELL! :D
Hope that helps!
Good luck!
xxx

I took a phone with me and wish I didn't, because the embassy appt didn't take long but the queue to get my phone back took ages! It was really annoying. But if you can't do without it, and are patient enough, then take it.

mine was the earliest appointment too... but maybe they realised how awfully slow they were and changed their system to be more efficient, for ppl with later visa appt dates!
