Camp America participants will automatically gain access to the forum when they reach the Ready To Place status. Until then, the forum and its contents are read only. When an applicant reaches the RTP stage, accessing the Participant Zone will automatically create a forum login and users can begin posting and replying to forum content.

wahoo, finally im into the forum, ive been waiting to get in here for ages :D


my application is all complete and i had my interview several weeks back, however, on my profile it says "Your application has been received at the Camp America office but is not yet being circulated to camps/resorts (specific camp/resort if pre-placed). This may be due to missing items as detailed below." yet under "Items requiring your attention" there is nothing as my police check etc has been completed, is this normal, and if so how long can it take?

im sure this question is around in other threads a million times but as of yet i cant find it :oops: lol, any help appreciated, Callum :)

it takes CA a few days to sort it for you dont forget at this time of the season they get busy and try do it as they go along

Hey guys, I've only just come on this forum! I'm very worried because I still haven't been placed. Is there still a chance of a placement now??? I'm in complete panic that I'll miss out on a camp america summer. Can anyone help me!! :( :(

Hey there, there is quite alot of people that still haven't been place, but there is a higher demand for male counsellors, but i still think some camps havent started hiring yet, i havent been placed yet but not giving up hope!!!!

could someone please tell me the adress to send my access ni form to, i' am guessing its the same adress as the crb police check. Should i adress it to wassem, the person i have been dealing with through CA. I' am aware that i am sending it late.

im so confussed about gettin my visa.. if u have an exam the next is it possible to get a changed date for ur visa appointment?
also not sure what documents i need to take.. proof of return, passport, pay the visa fee, photograph and that DS-156 form, what else am i missing??

Do you have your date yet? If not and you have exams contact CA, tell them the exam dates and they should make sure you get an appointment outside those times.

Assuming you have your visa stuff up on CAD/ have had your papers through the post you should have a list of what you need to take, but I'll summerise.

Passport
DS156 & DS158 forms (These are printed off CAD, as a girl you don't fill out DS157)
ALL the paperwork CA sent you in your visa mailing, this is another DS form your sign, a greeny coloured one and your courier form
Proof of return - Job or uni stuff or letter from parents is fine
Support letter - Printed off CAD
Passport photo (Stuck to DS156 form)


Don't thinI've missed anything there but like I said, it's all on CAD to remind you.

Hey i've got loads that i'm stuck on would be grateful if anyone can help me on any of these things!!
I got placed on thursday night.

1) i'm meant to be going 24th May but I recieved an email from the camp woman to everyone and it had the date 22nd so I emailed her saying.. am I coming later or something? but she said she will try and change the date to 22nd...but i've already confirmed it on CA as the 24th!!eek !

2) yesterday I payed all the payments... except for the 2 optional ones(insurance) can anyone tell me anything about what they are and if I need them???

3) a woman from CA rang and left me a msg on my phone yesterday saying that she is going to book me in for a visa app. - had an email and its 18th May at 10.30 - I haven't had anything through the post yet so do I just print those forms under 'visa details' and fill them in??

4) also Is there anything else I should be doing...?? I'm stuck on when to pick my return date../flight... I don't really know what to do!

REALLy need some help lol as I feel like I haven't got much time to do everything!

Ok the 2 optional payments the medical one you dont need unless CA contact you to say otherwise the other one is baggage which the majority of people can claim on house insurance or you can buy from elsewhere

VIsa Forms you fill the ones in online but onli 2 of them one is for men only unless your from the countries listed. also your supposed to recieve some forms through the post but as your appt is so soon they may meet you at the embassy with them

if your bookin the free flight you will need to have it booked before you leave for camp um if u dnt kno when u want to come home it may be worth bookin the DIY New york one as you can pick the date up to 7 days in advance when your out there if u pick the fixed n u want to change it it will cost you $200 to do so which makes it more worth while to have picked the diy.

Hey, i think i can help you with most/all of these!

1) your director knows when you are flying out, as CA have to check it with them first. it may be that the first lot of staff arrive on the 22nd, and then more a bit later. my camp works like that, as we all have to have different training. eg, im flying 5th june for lifeguard training, but some of the others arent coming til about the 10th i think. wait and see what your director says about it.

2)the optional baggage insurance doesnt really seem worth it. i think the full t&cs are on your cad somewhere, but it doesnt seem to cover much. im not gonna bother. im guessing the other optional thing is the pre-existing medical condition cover, the £14 one? if it is, you only need that if you have a medical condition, such as asthma. if you're not sure, check with CA. you dont want to get there and find you're not covered for something, will be very expensive and a lot of hassle!

3) fill in the visa forms that are on your cad, following the powerpoint instructions (really helpful if you follow them step by step). then when your stuff comes in the post, if i remember rightly theres a form you need to sign, and a checklist so you dont forget anything!

1) No panic, the camp will sort it with CA then you'll just have to confirm the new date - similar happened to me.

2) The baggage is optional - you may be covered under your house insurance, ask your parents. If not and you want coverage then look elsewhere for cheaper policies. Try insure and go. You'll have to get full travel insurance but it's still cheaper.

3) There are 2 forms for girls on the embassy website - 1 needs filling in online then printing, one can be typed and printed or filled in by hand. The CAD powerpoint will help you with this. There's the letter from CA to print off CAD too. You also need to sort a proof of return - evidence of uni course, job on return or a letter from your parents. If you only got placed on Thurs there's no way the visa forms have had time to arrive yet. They'll be on their way

4) Your medical form, money arrangements, buying camp stuff etc.
