From Charing Cross?
Is it walkable? Or do I get a tube. Busses are out because I hate them/don't understand them/always go to the wrong place.
lol
If I need to get a tube, which one and to where??
xx

Get a tube to Bond Street - that's pretty much the closest, though it's close to Marble Arch and Oxford St. You could walk, but it'd take a while, easiest to get the tube! Can you get a London travelcard before you get the train? Included return train and all busses/tubes within particular zones, but you'll be within those zones anyway :)

Edit: Go here: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ and it'll tell you which tubes to get and how long it'll take if you enter in your stations and date - it's good cause it takes into accout planned disruptions :)

On normal occasions I'd get a travel card, but because its rush hour its going to cost 3x as much as normal. £44.
So I want to top up my Oyster card and then buy a normal student return. I need to know how much I'll need on the oyster. What do you think?

I always get travelcards so don't know much about oysters, but when I went to the fair, an all day tube travelcard for zone 1 I think was 5/6 quid, and a single in zone 1 is 4! Insane! Sucks that you're going at rush hour :(

Where in berks you from? £22 seems pretty good. The cheapest I've got is £12 but that's going like 12ish.

Ah cool - my cousins lived there years ago, I don't remember it much though. I'm from near Reading but just over the Hants border.

I live in Battle.
That's direct route 1 1/2 hours to Charing Cross. Yet it is so damn expensive for me! I don't know why.
On off-peak and on a student discount its 15 odd quid for a travel card which is fine..

BUT £44!?!?!??!!?

Extortionate...

theres no way your be getting me to pay that much to travel on the tube lol...

i just typed into the search planner my route.

im getting the coach at 3.55am and it gets me to london voctoria coach station at 6.05am

so I typed into the route planner victoria -> marble arch and it came up with 5 different options including the way to walk it! It takes 36 minutes to walk it apparently, so way better than paying that amount of money, especially seeing as my interview is at 8am it gives me a bit of time to waste.

Ill just print off the detailed map they give you with directions and wola! :D

To get from Victoria to Marble Arch surely isn't that much? It's only 2 zones, when I've gone before (off peak) it was £4 for a travel card, I think £7.50 for on peak, though a return is propbably cheaper again.

TBH, if you think you might visit London again one day, get an Oyster Card! It's £3 (refundable deposit) for the card and you top up with £10. That will last you pretty much all day, even if you do somesightseeing.
